where would you really love to go? It'd be all expenses paid, wherever and whenever you want, just curious to see where you'd do and what you'd do.

At this time of year? I'd stay in-country, probably a beach house on the Monterey Peninsula. I'd have my little slut with me, a refrigerator stocked with food and kitchen stocked with everything we need for cooking, my computer so I can look up recipes, and 5 days of being left entirely alone, just the two of us. We'd eat, drink, walk the beach, read, explore the peninsula, suck, fuck, bathe each other, strut naked through the house and in general have a wonderful time.

*big sigh*

Antarctica! I want to go with a company called Lindblad that carries National Geographic folks. They use smaller ships to allow a more intimate experience and flexible schedule. It's roughly the cost of a new car, but by God I'm going to make it happen someday.

Realistically the next big trip for me will be Japan or Egypt; whichever I can rope a travel buddy into.

On a side note, this post brought to lit from my iPhone and the Newport News airport...less than ideal vacation perhaps.

Currently for me, it's a tour round Germany, including all the old castles and ruins.

If it's all expenses paid, I want them to take me down to the Paradise City. I hear the women there are somewhat more attractive than average.

More seriously, Canada. Toronto. The ACC. Yes please.

I want to take a trip down one side of South America, around the tip, and then back up the other. I've already done Europe pretty thoroughly, but have never been to South America or Central America other than the southern tip of Mexico.

Well, since I don't have to pay for it, I'll have my motorhome air freighted to Australia, and spend a few months driving around the back country.

Oh man, you gotta put some constraints on it, because I can come up with SO MUCH. I am a travel junkie. Is there a spending cap? A time limit? I almost kinda became a travel agent once, that's how much I love to plan travel.

It used to be Japan, and I still want to come here with my wife, but obviously it's no longer #1 on my list at the moment...I'm living here already!

The FIRST one that pops into my mind is a cruise on the Volga from St. Petersburg to Moscow (or vice versa). If money/time is no object, I'd like to combine that with a standard cruise line sailing of northern capitals/Scandinavia.

For land vacations, I'd really really really like to go to France someday.

Wouldn't be that expensive...
Fortunately there are regions with ruins literally stacked. And chances are good getting the permission to camp on unused fields of local farmers.
Not the most flashy holiday, but you could get around.
Let me know if you manage to get over the channel and I will tell you some nice corners, if you like... ;)

For me it would be a rural lodge somewhere in northern norway or finland. Even without electricity. But then I would need a bunch of new books to read.
Only two requirements have to be met: Tons of snow and enough prepared firewood.
Eh... And some food. I'm not the trapper type... :D

Damn, right now, I'd take Europe, particularly France and Italy for the food and wine. I'd like enough time to be able to thoroughly explore and enjoy.

And if we're sparing no expense, luxury hotels and first class travel please. :)

You want stacked ruins, try Troy! This is me, standing in front of Troy 6. Below it is Troy 5 and below that Troy 3. (I don't know where Troy 4 went...)

BTW, friendlyplanet.com often has great bargains on trips, for people who like a package tour. I often drool over their trips. :)

.

Me too. And I actually do plan travel for my family. I've even done travel planing for business reasons for my Mom. I have a few family members who do one of those travel agent pyrimid things and they are always shocked by the deals I find. Of course they don't seem to realize how much of a mark up their company really does.

As for what I would do. I would do a castle tour of Europe. I have many book marked. There is one if France that does live jousts, I have all the British Isle castles marked, and the ones in Ireland listed in order of "must see"-ness. Have to see the story book castles in the Germainic area. . . I could go on for ever, and spend years just bouncing from castle to castle.

Bonus points if I get to dress for the period and region the castle was built in. :D

It has been a while since I lived near any notable castles or ruins. Over here we only have something called the Siebethsburg.
It's a tiny hill with an occasional brick sticking out of the top. Used to be the headquarter of some 'Friesenhäuptling' (kind of local viking chieftain) in the middle ages.
At large as interesting as your favorite city park on a boring tuesday evening... ;)

But...
I do have a lot of connections to the medieval enactor’s communities and the people interested in medieval pageants.
So I probably could organize a tour guide for most interesting ruins in the country.
A different one for every location. So you could use your tour guides up and leave them in the respective torture chambers without bothering for the loss. Another one will come in handy soon... ;)

Something tells me that I stumbled over a great business idea here… :D

Eww…
Nobody is allowed to touch anything on those sites.
Where I grew up stands an old robber-knight castle. Rather small, but easily accessible if you don’t mind some light climbing.
Of course we weren’t allowed to climb over the parts of it that were close to collapse, but we didn’t care and had much fun.
There even was a small chamber underneath the tower… :D

I managed to find some pictures: This, this and this one.

But I would love to visit Troy anyway. ;)

Some beach somewhere. I've seen the ocean, but there wasn't a beach and it was kind of cold. I'm talking some island place, where it's hot and sunny, ocean breezes and lots of sand.

I could stay for ever. Trouble is, I'd eventually need electricity. I'd go bonkers without music...and electroplay. LOL.

back to the tiny little village I found at the southeast tip of Ireland. I could use a good month in a tiny cottage with the ocean right out my door. It was painfully beautiful and I was home.

Rayven :)

Wenchie: want some dressed up company on your holiday? I'm itching to get out my corsets, hoop skirts and 17th century style gowns!

Kojote: That sounds epic. I'd wanna come and see your hill thingy, and say hi!

Unfortunately the castle is about 600 kilometers from where I live now, but feel invited.
Seize a boat and cruise it over here. Wilhelmshaven has a harbor and is easy to find. Just follow the big oil tankers or the tiny grey ships of the german navy... ;)

But remember: No ruins worth the name directly over here. So bring your car with you... :D

*makes plans to become a stowaway*

If I ever get to go to Germany, I'll make sure to drop by!

Sure! It would be nice to have some one willing to be seen with me when I'm traveling in period clothing :D

I have a few outfits that are modernized vertions of my favorite period clothing. I think I'll take a few with me next time I head to your side of the world. I'll let you know if Jounar lets me out of the apartment wearing one. :cathappy:

A food and castle tour through Europe with my hubby and, in an ideal world, my girl too (though the later is still not yet found).

I'd want lessons in castle building and seigecraft, along with local pastry specialties and sugarcraft. The two are more related then most people think ;)

I have been to St Petersburg and Moscow and apart from Red Square, I was not impressed. Couldn't wait to get out of them into the Baltic countries which were really nice.

I would love to go to South America, Chile, Peru and also the Galapogos Islands. I was supposed to go to Cuba but was let down. I am hoping to go back to China again for my third Visit and would love to include Tibet....ahhhh. You have made me feel unsettled now. ;)
