DAY 72 - ObamaSpill: News, Views, Discussion, Photos

BOYCOTT all BP Stations! Even though each one is independently owned. :)

I don't see how the spill is Obama's fault.

Granted, he's being judged for the response to the spill, which makes sense. But there isn't one would-be president or would-be administration America would've elected that would have held BP or anyone else to higher drilling safety standards. At least, I don't believe that.

Some enterprising person could claim that BP's mishandling of the spill, clean-up, and public relations has sufficiently damaged the Brand that the contract with the owners has been breached by BP, thus enabling them, individually or collectively, to change out their stations' logos and affiliations to a different brand (Shell Oil Company, for example). Then BP would file a lawsuit, and lose.

He IS responsible for the fucked-up response, but the "ObamaSpill" is simply payback for all here who made Hurricane Katrina the fault of George W. Bush. Not the slow reaction to it, mind you, but the hurricane, the dike breaking, etc. As this is 'the payback presidency' it gets to enjoy a little taste of that, no?

Time to mine the beaches. Truck that stuff to Canada and let the tar sands guys clean it up.

I never understood why people bothered to blame things on George W. Bush that were out of his control. He fucked up so many things which were under his control that he'd already sealed the deal as far as being one of our worst presidents.

But, one could argue the voters were more to blame than he was; it's not like his ineptitude wasn't transparent.

Has anyone notified the President of this massive man-made disaster?

Has anyone notified the President of this massive man-made disaster?

Yes, but Obama cares only about how he can advance his agenda as a result of it. Destruction of the shoreline and peoples livelihoods (and lives) is but collateral damage for the precedent.

Did you also see the Utube video of the methane making the shores in Pensacola, FLA bubble all kindsa bubbles? The dude ended his filming of it with, "God Help Us All" after a quick pan to the oil-ridden once WHITE sandy beach before him.

Sad stuff.

I missed that one. There is tons of methane being released, it has to go somewhere.
