Front page article in the Memphis paper today describes the 1976 event in which I along with a few others became rock & roll history! HA!

JLL lived next door to my parents on Cardinal drive in Collierville so we always had a good view of the ruckus and mayhem caused by Jerry......the fucker was pretty cool when he was sober but the dude was drugged out and drunk all the time back then. His wife and kids would always run next door to mom and dads house to take cover.....my mom and Jerry's wife became close friends.

On that day in 1976 Jerry was practicing with his band....getting drunk playing loud!! The whole neighborhood did not care cause when you were outside you could hear some good tunes coming from Jerry's house as his band played....little did we know but we were listening to rock & roll in the making! I remember hearing the song "39 and holding" being played over and over as the band tweaked it to make improvements.

Late in the day as me and some friends were playing basketball in the driveway we heard about 15 gunshots.....Later his wife told my mom Jerry got drunk and was shooting beer cans he placed in front of the stone fireplace with a 357 magnum!

Long story short one of the bullets ricocheted off the stone wall and struck his bass player. HA!

As I got older me and Jerry would hang out at the long gone Bad Bobs vapors on brooks road or Hernandos Hideaway drinking beer.....one thing never failed we would always talk about that night and laugh.

Damn my life has been awesome!!

The article today.

Elvis never made his life available to everyone like Jerry did.....Most people never knew Jerry and Elvis had a feud going on for many years dating back to their recording days at Sun records.

Jerry was jealous of Elvis!......Once in the early 70's after a night of drinking at Bad Bobs Jerry showed up at the gates of Graceland with a pistol in hand demanding the guard at the gate let him in to see Elvis. The guard called Elvis and he told the guard to get that drunk son of a bitch off his property and call the police. HA!

My grandparents lived in the whitehaven area of Memphis back in those days....it was the (high class) section of Memphis only about 2 miles from Graceland. We use to see Elvis driving his Stutz Blackhawk all the time.....bad ass car! It was the first one ever made.

Today whitehaven is the cesspool of Memphis about 99% black.....in other words the area looks like shit.

Why the prejudice?

And his favorite bar recently got closed down for being a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

You obviously haven't met Memphis, he's one of our resident bigoted pieces of shit.

Not the only one I'm afraid.

Oh, and I made rock and roll history too! I heard the Who practice once.

He's definitely a racist piece of shit, but most of his threads are gold, HA!

Oh yeah, he has. He used his new EbonyNIvory alt to bump this thread, and plans on copying previous posts of mine to make it look like this is my alt. (See AntiBacterial, above.) It won't work, of course.

This all comes from me busting Tyrone Biggs as his alt on Friday.

WTF? Stop making so many alts asshole.

The other day you claimed I was Tyrone Biggs so make up your mind queen. You claim so many people are one person which to me seems impossible.
My aunt had paranoid schizophrenia her whole life and spent 40 years waking up every 2 hours to make sure the front door was locked, you sooooo remind me of her.

Ok, Beco

Jerry Lee Lewis, a gun, and Memphis Man: the raw material for a happy ending was there, but it didn't quite work out.

For whatever Memphis Man is, and I can't say for sure, he is right on target with this thread. Jerry Lee was and still is legendary in both Memphis and the Midsouth. To hear legendary musicians rehearse and or record new material is exciting for most people. I knew people who were with Elvis when he recorded some of the tracks for his last studio album in his livingroom at Graceland. Say you will but that doesn't happen everyday. And Jerry Lee's long running feud with Elvis is also correct and known to many long before it ever hit the press.

You're right, I saw history, heard history and lived history on that day back in 1976.
It was wild and crazy but also a beautiful thing at the same time.

Check out these videos of Jerry.

Jerry Lee Lewis paid to have Memphis_Man's grandmother killed. It was supposed to look like a random act of violence so the crime went unsolved.

The relationship ended badly but Grandma did get free concert tickets and a case of the clap before the untimely death.

Elvis had been gone from Sun Records for a year before Jerry Lee ever showed up there.

Since you live in Memphis you need to learn Memphis history.

From the archives of history:

Presley recorded 20 songs, 18 of them have survived and two tapes are lost. Ten were released by Sun as Elvis' first five singles between 1954 and 1955. And a year after he left for RCA, he revisited the same studio to have a spontaneous informal session with Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis. This meeting was recorded on December 4, 1956, dubbed The Million Dollar Quartet by the local paper the next day.

So, Memphis_Man's "expert knowledge" of Memphis - which he's chastising The Mutt about - comes from Wikipedia. Makes you wonder...
