I think I'd wear jarmies all the time if they were more socially acceptable.

Who needs socially acceptable???

I often wear jamies at work - it helps to work from home. Sometimes the whole day in my dressing gown if I can't be bothered with anything more - thank goodness videophones haven't taken off yet !

I'm not going to comment on that one Gil XD

But I will say that I hope she rugs up well and takes an umbrella!

What do you have planned for the day?

no thoughts so far. Great to have our first female...

what remains to be seen is her skills as a leader of a country (much like with any other PM) and if there are any major policy changes or implications for Labor now that she is in charge

I (being an educator) am already a bit iffy on her stance on Education...... so it will interesting to see what she decides to do and implement.

I'm keen to see when she calls for the next scheduled election and if Labor get voted back in.

(HEAPS of people in responses on other websites etc all claim 'but we didn't Vote for Julia to be PM... blah blah blah' - yes you idiots, you didn't actually vote for Kevin either, you vote for a party and they get to choose who they front as the leader - they only people to vote for either Kevin or Julia are the people in their electorate.

Ok rant over)

It will be interesting nevertheless to see how it all goes down

I think Australia is ready for a female prime minister-but not so sure we're ready for a blood nut prime minister! Does anyone remember the last female ranga political party leader we had in Australia? Julia has to be better than Pauline!

To my thinking the government has done some fantastic work to make Aussie a country to least suffer the financial down fall the world suffered, yes I know it was with the funds that the libs built but that was moneys stolen from education, health, pensions etc but it was there to save our country from what the rest of the world is suffering from now.

The mining tax is long over due as profits from our national resourses & the news this week of a massive deal for mining being signed shows the stance by mining companies saying jobs are at risk is bullshit it's them worried about their massive profit margin being lessened nothing more.

The insulation problems were caused by shonky bosses using unskilled workers & cutting corners so why haven't all these shonks been chased down?
the idea was one that would have helped cut power costs to the householders & the nation in the long run.

This is just how I see it as a swing voter who votes for who prommises the best to suit my needs.

Pauline was a puppet our PM isn't & has a mind of her own which I think is a big plus BUT I think she has taken on a huge task of winning the country back after the backflips that Kevin Rudd has done.

500 meter sidewalk to nowhere

So you get all your information from the ABC, eh? The biggest lie in Australia - other than Gillard would front for the Bulldogs before stabbing Rudd in the back - is that Rudd saved us from the "worst depression the world has ever known since 1929." Bullshit. Worse than bullshit really, it's a cynical rewriting of history.

Since when does it make sense that Canberra is pumping in stimulus money to the economy while the RBA is repeatedly having to raise interest rates? You can imagine the thumping the ABC would have given Howard/Costello if they pulled such a cynical stunt. But Rudd and Swan got a total pass. So the economically illiterate amongst us imagine Rudd "saved us" from a global economic down turn. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The blooming bloody mining export boom to fuel China's growth is what saved our arses, that, and the fact that our banks are the best managed in the world. There was never any crisis to start with in Australia or China. Aussies had to take their money to overseas investments to lose it.

So just who was Rudd stimulating?

All that "stolen" future fund money was stolen back by union contractor stimulus graft. Basically, Howard funded Labor cronies. Oh, the irony! Now every shire in rural Australia as a new 500 meter sidewalk to nowhere plus a new shed or two. Good on ya, Rudd.

Fact is, that Howard couldn't have spent the money he put into the future fund on infrastructure because the country was at full employment and the economy expanding rapidly. Interest rates and inflation were already stepping up and the ABC screamed bloody murder at every rise. Howard had to ANTI-stimulate the economy.

Funny you don't hear much media-driven angst over recent repeat interest rate rises much nowadays? I wonder when the Greatest Great Depression is gonna end?

Like is said my view is my view & you have yours even though we differ & I don't see any of your post as what I see.
From a non ABC source is that interest rates dropped & now there returning to the Howard levels.

Like most your a bit over the top in your ideas with this "Now every shire in rural Australia as a new 500 meter sidewalk to nowhere "

As for the tax on mining look at the poms who have just hit the backs with a similar tax. Greece is broke. The US is struggling with more than an oil leak.
Where are we? doing OK.
