Teacher fired for premarital sex

What's to rage about? This concerns a private Christian school in Florida.

If that's the only place she could get teaching work, it's not a big loss.

Schools like that typically have morals clause so firing her probably was within their rights. The fact that they discussed her firing as they did could be illegal.

Let he who is without sin sign her pink slip.

Thats likely it. She works for a bunch of pedo's.

But, she knew policy and she broke it (the little slut) so she gets fired for it.

If she wants to get away with stuff like that she better get a job with the catholic church...they cover for you there

They also have a we dont want a black woman marrying a white man clause.

They will be paying her for decades when she wins the suit.

:)

I'm not so sure there was a policy in place. It doesn't matter because that's not the basis of her suit.

I don't see how this is a political issue though.

But thats the thing, the school didn't have a morality clause, so they weren't within their rights

I guess she should have just started molesting children... the school probably would have given her a raise

So koalabear - wanna come back in here and explain the political angle?

`Cause I'm not seeing it.

I went for a walk and started thinking about this. Even if there was a "morality" clause in her contract forbidding premarital sex, I don't think it would have held up in court.

I'll go start basting the turkey. Gonna be waiting a long time 'fore you get a straight answer, I reckon. Might's well stay for Thanksgivin'.

There is no way you'd have that turkey ready for Thanksgiving if you start now. Foolish English, everyone knows you need to start preparing your bird in March.

Wrong. Florida, like most states, is an "at-will" employment state. Employers don't have to have a "morals clause" or any employment contract at all. Workers can be fired for literally any reason that does not directly conflict with state or federal law.

A discrimination suit has no merit. Anti-discrimination laws specifically identify a "protected class" of individuals such as race, gender, religious affiliation, etc. I have never heard of fornicators being within a protected class.

Her best bet is a wrongful termination suit under Florida law, but I doubt she would win that one either.

She's protected as a woman, and under religious affiliation. But this isn't the basis of her suit.

What's so ironic about your post is that it wasn't "libs" who were outraged at this teacher and fired her. It was the religious right wing nut-jobs in a holy-roller school.

Having gone to one of those such schools I'm in a position to cast stones.

Yet here ya are Lib, rage on.

From what I understand she's suing because the principle revealed the reason that she was fired not only to her former coworkers, in a staff meeting, but the parents of all of her former students as well.

That school is fucked.
