i got up to watch the game (sorry Bandit, i am talking football) and nearly died when Germany scored that first goal.
and from there it just got worse.... and unless we protest that red card - and win the protest - there isn't a hope in hell that we'll beat Ghana (and we must win that one to stay in).

had steamed salmon parcels
caught last weekend off the mouth of the tamar - not the usual catch this time of year, and certainly not at that location.
i much prefer ocean salmon to freshwater salmon... much nicer flavour

my offspring/kidley beans definitely aren't sorted.... more like tolerated! (except for number1son, who has never once put a foot wrong!)

sadly, this has been a MAJOR blow to our campaign hopes
the socceroos will be more than a little dejected after losing such an important middleman (cahill), and given that we have the oldest team in the cup, it's going to be harder than ever for them to stay competitive.

There is a huge difference between Geelong and the Socceroos (I go actually barrack for Geelong too)

Geelong were/are playing a game they have always known, scattered throughout those 44 years they had more than a few attempts at the premiership and missed out.

Socceroos - new to the world cup scene at such a high level (since 74 - til 2006 now 2010)
an older team, guys with limited experience on the world stage (yes lots of them play for European soccer leagues but it isn't quite the same)
And look at who they are compteting against! Nations who LIVE for soccer.

Realistically we would have been lucky (even from the outset) to make it to the Round of 16 - certainly we won't get any further than that

I find it sad now that the media feel the need to lay blame for the socer loss.

I have no interest in Soccer-so I don't care! I do think people need to accept we lost and move on. It's only a game at the end of the day!
As for the republic-Webbo I have to correct you. The referendum we had was worded so that it would lose-I can't remember exactly how it was worded but it was along the lines of "do you want a republic led by a president elected by a 2/3 majority of the parliment?" Speaking for myself, I don't care if we have a republic or not-but I dont want that republic! If we have a president I want to vote for who it is, hence why I voted against it at the time! I bet I wasn't the only one do vote no for that reason. It should have been 2 questions "do you want a republic?" and "do you want (insert options here) republic? The Liberal government, led by Monarchist John Howard did this deliberately I suspect. The republic never had a chance!

Like many others I've been burnt out prior to the "SOCCER" World Cup with all the crap being fed to us with the media but I am taken back by the knockers who expected the Aussie team to beat the Germans one of the best sides in the game.

We are a minnow in this game compared to the rest of the world an just making it was a great effort.
