So - first of all, apologies to Manu and whoever does the cleanup to post stories.

I've been posting by submitting MS Word files for a while now. I use bold and italics a lot, and it just works better for me.

However, I realized that was a fair amount of work for them, no matter how you slice it.

I figured out how to dump out of Word, do some cleanup with a macro I wrote, and I have it down to about a 2 minute process to get to clean text no weird line breaks, good paragraph formatting, and only bold and ital html tags in the doc.

If anyone is interested, I could post a how-to (of course, it has probably already been done.)

I have Word 2003. I'd like to know this macro, please

I use OpenOfficer. However, it sounds like your macro works on a file outside of Word. I would at least like to see your macro and operating instructions.

I just type the damn html codes in the text. Not hard to do once you get the hang of it, then it's just cut and paste.

ETA: I actually read the title as Cleanup Marco .

You aren't the only one . . .

I opened this thread wondering who the hell Marco was and why he needed cleaning. Since my dirty little mind is in high gear tonight, the mental image I had started a plot bunny that might be just too...even for Lit. I'm a very sick witch.

Do post it for us, Shy. I'd love to give it a whirl.

Marco's Messy Macro for Markup

I'm wondering if I should name the macro something like "Marco's towel", based on all the of the discussion here. I should have something by tomorrow afternoon.
