A friend of mine had a barbecue yesterday that pictures and things are popping up on Facebook of, and to which I was not invited despite talking to said friend the day before. I'm actually quite hurt.

Oh, damn! That's cold!

*hugs*

I've grown apart from most of my high school friends. I have 2 true friends who I still catch up with, we make the effort every few months to get together, and although our lives are evolving at different rates, we can pick up where we left off, and there's no grudges held because you haven't spoken in months.

I'll echo Homburg's words as well. You seem to have hit your stride these days, and I'm happy that you're liking the person you are now. And you're only 21, you'll keep growing, and changing, and be even more awesome.

Oosh. Apparently, they all think I've become an asshole and not inviting me out is their way of solving the problem. I think I should start finding new friends.

How'd you find that out?

And really, if people think confident and happy in himself you is an asshole compared to stifled, dismissed you, then fuck them. In the ass. With a pineapple. Without lube.

That right there. You have a right to personal growth. Hell, some would say you have a responsibility to personal growth. Either way, there is nothing wrong with who you are becoming. :rose:

Pain is bad. Very, very bad.:(

And it would be very helpful if he were to call and say he didn't need her at all for the legal stuff and then the doctor could call and move the biopsy up to, oh, tomorrow, and they can schedule surgery for Friday.

Friday would be good. It'd give me time to get a freezer and put up some ready made meals for my mom and the girls. And I wouldn't have to miss taking bug to any of her therapy.

I might even be able to swing seeing my People Thursday night...

I really just want it all out now.
:(

Yep. Honestly, the way they're handling their issue with you is immature. It sounds like you're better off without them.

Quite aside from whether their complaints have any merit, that they collectively thought the appropriate way to deal with it was not to say anything about it but instead exclude me is rather ridiculous. And "stifled, dismissed me" is absolutely right - really, why do I want to be with people who take the piss out of me all the time and then whine I'm being insulting when I return fire?

Yeah. Fuck that.

Sounds like a group of assholes, to me.

Weirdness. Looking through photos of my buddy Rip's latest expedition to Everest and he's a got a bunch of "body" shots. See, folks die up on the mountain but the mountain is always moving - well, the ice on the mountain is always moving - so their bodies often end up far from where they died. This season, a bunch of bodies popped up out of the ice in base camp, right around various tents. Rip figured a couple of them were probably 50 years old.

Imagine waking up to a dead body behind your tent?

One photo was wild because the body was frozen semi-upright and the guy had his arm over his head as if he were trying to protect himself from something that was falling.

That is sick and wrong.

And what exactly do they do with these dead people who just pop up out of the snow?

From the sounds of it, you're maturing faster than friends. And they don't sound very friendly to start.

Don't let them get to you. You're a neat guy who's finding his own in a lot of ways.

Big hugs. I really hope it all works out for you, too.

You've got the right idea :) Sounds to me like you won't have any trouble finding some new buddies.

Oh, it's just nature actually. A bit freaky but nature nonetheless. There are lots of bodies scattered all over Everest.

Two years ago, one of Rip's clients came down with AMS on summit day. AMS makes you tired and you can't think straight and this guy decided he was just going to lie down and sleep - in the middle of the death zone. Well Rip starts yelling at him to get up and moving, (kinda had to, given the guy's state). He points to the frozen body of a climber who had died the previous year and screams, "You want to end up like that?!"

Dead body = good motivation.

They used to just leave the bodies they found at base camp but now there's a big hoo ha over it so they've started removing them. (Not my friend but some of the other teams up there). Not an easy task since some are still encased in ice and rock so they have to dig them out with picks and shovels and it's kind of "messy" and smelly. Plus some of the Sherpa families are angry about it and want the bodies left as is.
