What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

No wonder we're on the verge of breaking 9900!

Saved by a last minute surge! Up from 9,889.88 to 9,931.22. The good news though, the Government created 400,000 or so "jobs" and the private sector created 41,000. Only problem would be getting the 41,000 to pay for the 400,000.

Probably working whereas you idiots are contributing the the unemployment rate.

I'm retired and about getting to the point of collecting that which was promised me while I was paying for everybody else with a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to be told that I did too well in life and that even in retirement, I will be supporting someone else with my money...

still...

again...

include the pennies on your eyes...

"What kind of money?"

"Obama money."

"Where's it coming from?

"Obama."

"And where did Obama get it?"

"I don't know... his stash, I don't know. I don't know where he got it from, but he's givin' it t'us to help us. We love him. That's why we voted for him... Obama! Obama!"

Maybe Monday, we'll hit that 10,000 mark and then we'll know the recovery is underway and that Obama was right about massive government debt kick-starting an economy...

He's going to fire the Census Workers then rehire them again. Another 400,000 jobs created.

Retired folks don't count in those numbers.

Of course, you won't be able to retire by the time you are the age of today's retirees...you have to keep working to sustain Vette and the furry bear.

I know this on both counts. My generation will not be able to receive the benefits I have been paying into since high-school. And Chevette will be provided free room and board as soon as he shoots Obama. The furry bear will find a rich widow while trolling the Playground to take care of him.

No sweat. I'll just take them both out for a nice discount fugu sashimi and Box jellyfish dinner, in appreciation of their service to our country and for being upright, model senior-citizens. :)

I've been hearing that rumor although I have to wonder just how much padding can be accomplished by this mechanism without raising huge red flags that even the MSM cannot ignore...

Then again, once the blood is in the water, someone might actually want to be the next Woodward and Berstein.

There's no glory in being a member of the herd and EVERYone wants a legacy.

In other words the government further killed the ability of the Private sector to produce it's way out of this recession. 41,100 jobs in the private sector isn't going to get it.

I wonder if Obama knows we have to create 100,000 jobs a month just to keep up with the population increase, let alone the 350,000 a month for the next three years to get back to where we were before the recession.

Is there another Census count next year??

Please tell us!

Why should I tell you again? Independent analysis on this very matter from Moody's and the CBO has already been posted here several times.

You right wing nuts then spam the forum with partisan blogs that tell you the political narrative you want to hear.

The stimulus changed the unemployment rate by what, 1.5% tops? Probably less than that, CBO says 0.7 to 1.5%.

Go take a hike, mow-ron.

Possibly that, yes, and it stopped (or contributed strongly to stopping) the heavy bleeding. We're no longer losing a ton of jobs every quarter. Might not be much robust job growth going on but there aren't major losses anymore. According to Moody's and the CBO, the stimulus had a lot to do with this fact.

How much is it worth in your mind to no longer be losing over half a million jobs every time these reports come out?
