Some Clarity in Financial Reform - easy to understand

Yes, Obama has found many ways to screw the country simultaneously. If he'd just have stuck to one thing, maybe fixing the economy, maybe there'd be a few more jobs out there. Instead, he's come up with a dozen crazy schemes that all combine to suppress job creation. Jobs will start to slowly come back, but his programs have delayed the recovery by months and months and has our country bleeding red all over the place.

Because Obama is too dumb to multitask?

And seriously, our companies are hiring like crazy. They're just doing it overseas. How is a president going to fix that?

Recent studies show multi-taskers as being less efficient and dependable...

"People can't multitask very well, and when people say they can, they're deluding themselves," said neuroscientist Earl Miller. And, he said, "The brain is very good at deluding itself."

Miller, a Picower professor of neuroscience at MIT, says that for the most part, we simply can't focus on more than one thing at a time.

What we can do, he said, is shift our focus from one thing to the next with astonishing speed.

"Switching from task to task, you think you're actually paying attention to everything around you at the same time. But you're actually not," Miller said.

Business, overseas, is not booming...

Are you practicing imagining one impossible thing each day there Alice?

By creating a pro business environment here.

Having a pro business environment isn't the problem as far as creating jobs. It's that jobs are massively cheaper overseas. No real wages, no workers' rights, no OT, no retirement, no benefits, no worker's comp. No paying benefits in case of layoffs/firings.

This recession has been a fantastic opportunity for our businesses to do some massive backdoor outsourcing. Normally businesses take flak for moving jobs overseas. But if they can use the recession to lay off workers, then 18 months later do their re-hiring in Bangladesh, it's all on the down-low.

This phenomenon is happening like never before due to the severity of the recession. And it's not just factory jobs. My buddy is an aerospace engineer for General Electric in Cincinnati. They laid off 25% of his department during the recession and have no rehiring plans outside of Chennai, India.

I love how hacked off you are that Obama is getting a whole lot of stuff done.

Wouldn't you love if he would just do one thing at a time until he didn't have enough time to complete his agenda?

I'd love it if he would do something to stimulate those who produce wealth instead of those who consume it. Why are federal jobs outpacing private sector jobs?

Because silly, everyone knows it's the public sector that drives an economy...

So your whole thesis is based on the experience of one friend. That's the sort of cutting edge analysis we've come to expect from you.

I don't have idustry-wide analysis at my fingertips, nor did I claim to.

During this economic recovery when it's time for companies to re-hire, and they're looking at hiring in Indiana or India (for 20% of the cost), which will they choose? Do you deny that the recession/recovery cycle provides an excellent opportunity for business to opportunistically outsource?

Also factor in that technology has made outsourcing more possible than ever. Cisco is making heaps of money off of just this kind of thing.

And yeah, I own a little bit of Cisco for just this reason.

Obama is trying to create the perfect storm in the vilification of all activity related to the private sector. Rather than go all out for the Socialist model he's follwoing the Facist model and a large segment of the population doesn't seem to care.

Companies still do outsourcing when it makes sense, particularly to serve international customers, but the rate of this change has slowed markedly as costs in India (in particular) increased, and issues dealing with communications, turnover and management make offshore outsourcing more problematic as a major strategy.

It's a parallel to race relations...

They've been raised and educated on an anti-Capitalist model, where economic status is a function of the status of others.

I don't have because the white man/rich man is holding me down and the system is gamed against me getting a leg up.

It is popular today to blame capitalism for everything that displeases. Indeed, who is still aware of what he would have to forego if there were no "capitalism?" When great dreams do not come true, capitalism is charged immediately. This may be a proper procedure for party politics, but in Scientific discussion, it should be avoided.

Do you have a source for that? I've never heard that before.

Okay so India is only super cheap, not OMG CHEAP. So then the outsourcing goes to the Phillipines or Malaysia where people live in mud huts. Er, more than in India.
