I saw this on the BDSM forum and thought it'd be interesting to post it here.

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum? (This is more of a philosophical question. If you say “the Internet” or "Google" I will be forced to smack you)
2. How long did you lurk?
3. Why did you stop lurking?
4. What has kept you here?
5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit?
6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit?
7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other subforum(s)?
8. General Lit/SRP Forum thoughts?

I thought it'd be a sin to deprive people of my exceptional writing skills and needed a new space in which to toot my own horn  :D

2. How long did you lurk?

About two seconds, I'm not shy!

3. Why did you stop lurking?

Cause I figured I could perv better if I was involved?

4. What has kept you here?

Ummm...I have no idea...that's it! I'm leaving!

5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit?

Yeah the pervs like looking over my shoulder ;)

6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit?

What a loaded question! Haha, not yet but I will be when he flies me to America in July

7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other subforum(s)?

Used to post on the BDSM forum but I got bored with all the trolls and segregation

8. General Lit/SRP Forum thoughts?

Definitely needs to have annual awards for the SRP section, that'd be awesome. Other than that and the drama queens, I love it here! to my huge Lit family!

I would advise against this. These things are popularity contests and only serve to create the drama you claim to dislike.

Well personally I already know which of the many threads I read that I'd nominate and it has nothing to do with popularity or drama. I'm not one of the writers, I write with one of them and I reckon if they put certain rules in then it would be fine. Like being unable to nominate a thread you've written in or something *shrugs*

They have the story and editor awards and I don't see the difference to be honest.

internet exporer brought me here=^.^=

Goading aside, I used to do role plays on another site (non-sexual... most of the time) but there were few people there who knew how to write properly, a freind on there told me about this place.

2. How long did you lurk?

about 3 seconds, I came here to play

3. Why did you stop lurking?

why lurk in the first place? being an active member of the literotica community offers so much more

4. What has kept you here?

an ample amount of free time

5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit?

some, if they ask what I do online, I tell them

6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit?

nope

7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other subforum(s)?

nah, I'm pretty much just an SRP guy

8. General Lit/SRP Forum thoughts?

A profile option to say if your a man or woman, one thats in bold, and flashing text, I get allot of people thinking I'm a woman due to my name, kittenofdeath isnt girly dammit!

LOL we'd need a transgender button as well then, lots of deviants and difference on these forums

well we could be completely accurate, and have options that would completely describe someone, but then it would be easier to just have a small place where you can write a short paragraph about yourself, and I think there already is one of those

Yeah, It kinda is.

quiet you

Better fill this out myself I guess.

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum? (This is more of a philosophical question. If you say “the Internet” or "Google" I will be forced to smack you)

I've been working on my first novel and when I tried putting together the first love scene I found it really difficult. It's not erotic fiction but I wanted the erotic moment to be hot without being too coy or crude. A guy on a writers' forum suggested I peruse the stories here.

2. How long did you lurk?

A while. I spent a few months just looking through the stories before I even stumbled upon the forum. Then I followed some of the SRPs here for a few weeks until I took the plunge myself.

3. Why did you stop lurking?

I wanted to participate and felt I'd gleaned enough about basic forum etiquette not to make a total idiot of myself.

4. What has kept you here?

The writing talent I've been lucky enough to collaborate with and my own deviant imagination. I've only been here 5mins and already I'm considering making my own idea thread. Sometimes I have flashes of erotic inspiration that get away from my before I can scribble them somewhere.

5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit?

My partner, G.

6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit?

No. I was considering it a little while back but it turned out to be a bad idea.

7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other subforum(s)?

I potter about on the BDSM forums but I don't often feel compelled to post. I don't have BDSM in my life right now and I'm here for escapism rather than to discuss past experiences. I'm also drawn to the How To forum sometimes but again, I don't often have anything to contribute that someone else hasn't already covered.

8. General Lit/SRP Forum thoughts?

Anyone who has been a member of the forum for 3months without making a single post should have their account deactivated. That would get rid of the pm trolls. I don't mean established posters who take a break from Lit, I mean people with 0 posts who have been 'members' for years without participating on the forums at all.

I think the profile form is incredibly basic and that people should be encouraged to say a bit more about themselves.

I might fill this in later .....but I did have a question.

I think the profile form is incredibly basic and that people should be encouraged to say a bit more about themselves.

People lie all the time here about who they are , etc . so why would you want more false more information:D:eek:

Lord, I wish they would fix the edit problem already:rose:

A friend guided me to to the story section of Lit and I became a member; one author Sir Nathan inspired me to write my own short story, but I wasn't ready to submit it..I still haven't, the migration here allowed me a place where I could hone my writing skills. I have learned so much from the many talented writers here I am still learning...one day I will post a very revised version of that fist effort LoL!
.

2. How long did you lurk?

I didn't lurk, I came to write..

I found a story, sent in a sample of my writing and voi-la! here I am:)
Dominance was my first thread: thank you SlippedHalo for taking a chance on me:rose:

3. Why did you stop lurking?

Answered in question (2) I didn't even know what lurking was.

4. What has kept you here?

Mainly because I love to write. Also, I have made a few really good friendship connections with one or two individuals which have spilled over into my real life, those I would be loath to leave behind me.

In a sense this is the fantasy community where I come to escape and heal from the traumas of my real life and for the most part it brings me great comfort.:rose:

To my surprise I found love here :)

5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit?

Of course, why would I keep this a secret?

6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit?

I have not done this with any one face to face....yet.

7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other sub forum(s)?

I do have favorite authors in the story section which I do read regularly.

The other parts of Lit I have not visited yet and probably will not!

8. General Lit/SRP Forum thoughts?

I have many but would prefer to keep them to myself as I have no wish to become a target again.

The thought I would be willing to share however would be...

No matter why any one is here, we all come here from widely differing back grounds and for very different reasons. I would like to caution people from making misinformed judgment calls about another person.

Please remember that no matter what is written, that there is a real person , with real feelings behind every post, no matter what persona they may take on in this forum, good or bad.

Even the most hard nosed person/persona can be hurt by thoughtless words. I find that people forget that sometimes.:rose:

You can still edit posts if you right click the edit button and open the page in a new tab. I use Firefox but theoretically it should work like that on other browsers.

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum? (This is more of a philosophical question. If you say “the Internet” or "Google" I will be forced to smack you) I don't exactly remember how I came here. I came to literotica.com first--a year ago, I think, to read. But I'm going to say..."the internet" *bends over* LOL What? ;)
2. How long did you lurk? I came to the forum finally the other day and didn't lurk long.
3. Why did you stop lurking? Looked fun.
4. What has kept you here? Is fun. Word play games are my favorite.
5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit? No.
6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit? No.
7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other subforum(s)? Yes. Writing draws me places.

So far, it's nice. Still trying to find my way around and figure out the best hang outs.

I know people lie. I certainly don't expect every profile I read to be truthful. Having said that, it's nice to see someone commit to a few basic 'facts' rather than leave the whole thing blank. That suggests to me that they'll play the politician game - asking other people questions and then 'by coincidence' be exactly what that person might be looking for.

I have to confess, I've become a lot more jaded since I made the huge mistake of posting a personals ad here. I got loads of messages from people with no posts or profiles, something I found very suspect.

You can also click on the number of the post you want to edit (in the top right corner) and then when only that post is showing, for some reason you can edit as normal. Some geek in the BDSM Cafe figured that out.

I was invited by my dearest friend Ezra. I had read a few stories about a year ago but never realized there was a forum associated with the site.

2. How long did you lurk?

Maybe a day but since I had a friend here he helped me jump right in.

3. Why did you stop lurking?

See above.

4. What has kept you here?

It continues to a fun break and I enjoy checking in throughout the day as I go about work.

5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit?

No way!

6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit?

Nope.

7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other subforum(s)?

I post from time to time on the BDSM forum and just discovered The Playground which is fun as it moves fast and requires only quick little comments.

It is difficult to ascertain just how serious individual people are on the forum. Everyone takes what happens here differently. The conversation of if its okay to play with someone in SRP but not in the lounge or in IM because that is considered sex still boggles my mind!

You're kidding.

Holy shit, you're not are you? That is some special logic.

No, amazingly she is NOT joking. I personally can't get enough of the 'cyber is cheating' discussions either. And yup, apparently when it's just the two people and not in the third person...it's soooo much more intimate - how?

*Insert dry sarcasm here*

Oh come on. Somebody's got to throw me a cheeky link at this point. You two are such teases!

Oh but hunny this is not openly discussed ;) it's more of a behind the scenes in IM thing, "You fucked her?! Her?! OMG!! I don't care if it's on a screen, you cheated on me! We're online partners, wtf is wrong with you?! You've humiliated me! Now I have to disappear and act like I have REAL problems!"

Anyone wanna help me out at this point? :D

Zydrate's Answer

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum?
I've been a frequent Lit reader for a while. And being the dork I am, I just recently decided to see what the forums were about and then tada!! Here I am :)

2. How long did you lurk?
On the main site, 2 years-ish

3. Why did you stop lurking?
I'm a lurker by heart.........

4. What has kept you here?
People I've met and talked to :)

5. Does anybody in your real life know you visit Lit?
Yes!

6. Have you ever met someone in real life who you first got acquainted with on Lit?
Nope, everyone lives too far away from me and vice versa

7. Are you also a regular poster on one or more of the other subforums? If so, what drew you to the other subforum(s)?
Nope, I only have time for the SRPs lol. Sometimes I'll go to the general board and such to read only...........maybe, just maybe sometimes post...........

8. General Lit/SRP Forum thoughts?
It's a fun site no matter what. I have a few haters but that's ok, the good outweigh the haters lol----all I ask is that you try to love me before you decide to hate me!

OMG! I so opened the proverbial can of worms.

Just a word of caution is all. In the beginning it was very difficult to figure out the politics and the difference between SRP and lounge 'behavior' but basically if you attach yourself to someone as a Master/sub/girlfriend etc then you should only play with that person in the lounge and not others except in SRP's. Of course everyone is a little different - thats what ceates Lit drama!!
You wouldn't want to get a bad reputation now would you?;)

wait, people get that worked up over online stuff?!

Errr yes >.< people make connections and friends with their co writers and lounge pals behind the scenes here, that's how dramas spark. Everyone is backstabbing or betraying someone else by talking to someone the other person doesn't like or blah blah and so on.

Unfortunately people can get downright childish about it and don't know when to grow up and let things go, i've been pulled into lots of them knowing so many writers here but I'm never the reason for the dramas, I just get the circle close in on me.

Far too laid back and Aussie-ish to make a fuss in real life let alone online hehehe :D

Oh good grief.

I get the whole online thing on some levels, I do. People who want to meet someone for a RL relationship, or people whose primary relationship doesn't tick all their boxes sexually or whatever. I can sympathise with those people.

But a purely online thing that's never going to be RL, that only exists in pm, im and forums like this? That's like when I was about 6 years old and a boy would ask me to be his girlfriend. We'd have a 'relationship' for a couple of days and then one of us would get bored and move on. Quite often I never even had to share my sweeties.

Did you know there was a divorce case in the USA where the couple first met on Second Life? They became a RL couple and married but she went on to divorce her husband because he was screwing around with virtual people via an internet connection on the same site they met on in the first place!

What planet do these people live on?
