My specialty as an editor is spelling. In most stories words are substituted for other words such as your for you or the other way around. I try to make a story when I edit it the best spelled story other there. If you need it to flow better or paragraph structure I am not your man. But spelling I hope to do wonders.

A minor point, but it seems your specialty is word usage. In other words "your" versus "you're", if I understand correctly. Just saying.

Homonyms go right through a spell check programs.

What is more common is auto-correction that gives the wrong word. Excite becomes exit, and everyone's favorite, pubic becomes public.

Actually ttvttp was talking about homophones, that is words which sound the same but are spelled differently, like "their" and "there". Homonyms are words which are spelled the same but have different meanings and sometimes pronunciations, like "lead" (to persuade to go somewhere) and "lead" (a metal).

You are right. I was thinking of homophones and if I had moor thyme, I wood have worked a dozen or sew into the post.

I recall seeing a letter shared via the internet where someone wrote a sizeable document using the incorrect forms of words, a document that would pass by spellchecks but be completely wrong otherwise. Does anyone have this? I did not save it, but did laugh. It could be useful as a teaching document, as in "what not to do".
