Would the word jazz be capitalized In this sentence?

'Sounds of soft jazz flowing into the kitchen through hidden speakers pulled her away from her thoughts.'

It's the specific name of a music genre (obviously) but I'm not thinking it would be capitalized.

I don't see any reason to capitalize the word. If it were classical, rock, or pop, none of those labels would be capitalized.

Can't think of any reason why it would be. It could be that "Soft Jazz" was a very specific coined subset of jazz--but if that was/is the case both words would be capped, not just "jazz."

(In current American editing trends, when in doubt, don't.)

I didn't think it was capitalized, but an editor questioned me on it. Being that she's new to editing herself, I don't think she was certain.

Thanks (and thanks to bronzeage too) for the quick answer. :)
