"Doctor Who: Powers of Ten" (OOC)

Well, yes, I figured it was reluctant smex of one variety or another... But, "Archer reruns?"

Animated comedy on FX about a jackass secret agent. One scene has a shot of him in a similar position while trying to talk a girl into letting him stick it in her backdoor. I sometimes watch the episodes on Hulu and the screen capture of Mary Sue up there just reminded me of it.

:: snrk :: "Mary Sue?"

Which one, the blonde or the brunette? XD

Oh, Rose was so very much a Mary Sue. Still, as Mary Sues go, she's still pretty likeable. Not like, I dunno, a Drakkwall character or something. (Was that unfair? I dunno.) And I suppose all Companions have been accused of a little bit of Mary Suery at one point or another. (Except Adam. Adam just got a bitch-slap and a kerb-kick, but he deserved 'em both.)

Oh! But speaking of mocking things we love!

Lil' bit of cosplay action:

...starring Amy Pond as Princess What's-Her-Name and The Eleventh Doctor as... Captain Jack Harkness?

I love "Invader Zim!"

Also, I have a tendency to quote "Johnny The Homicidal Maniac" at strange intervals.

But -- and I realise I'm writing on the wrong website to say this -- that kind of squix me out a lil'.

ZADR's okay, in contemplation. You're right.

If you're going to get a ship out of that franchise, it's prolly gonna be College Years versions of those two hatefucking.

But "Johnny" is some weird shit.

Just watched the second episode of Doctor Who Series 5: The Beast Below. Still not really sure about Smith. But, the episode was decent enough. Will admit I like the companion.

Watching it now!

EDIT: Ugh, YouTube is such a cockblocker.

EDIT THE SECOND: Woohoo, Dailymotion!

EDIT THE THIRD: I hope everyone caught the "Idiot's Lantern" reference. Really-really, it was big as life, if you missed it, you're fired. (Well, not really.) Also, I loved the little keys around the necks of The Minders. Kind of reminded me of an old friend.

And while we're at it?

I love him. Eleven. I love him to bits. He's like a fusion of two of my favourite cousins, even the way he talks, especially the way he talks.

I approve.

I'm actually enjoying Smith as the Doctor so far. Where 10 reminded me more of 5, Smith's Doctor seems to be more an amalgamation of several different ones. I've noticed some similarities of 2, 4, 5, a little bit of 9, and of course 10.

His first episode was very much just Ten dialogue in an Eleven body. Every word he said I got that vibe. Must've been part of the post-regenerative adjustment period?

This second episode, yeah, incorporating previous Doctors and taking on a life of his own just a little bit more. I like the first instance of the glass of water, where he doesn't seem to realise why he's doing something, he just knows it's important, like even he can't keep up with his own brain.

And Amy. Oh, Amy.

I like her, I do. She's a little bit Rose Tyler and a little bit Gwen Cooper and a whole lot of Something New. But we were talking of Mary Sues and yikes. The manner in which she saved the day, risking all those lives on the flimsiest of intuitions, on, what, her second adventure? I suppose if The Doctor had done that, I wouldn't have batted an eye, but that bugged me a little. This is not to say that I don't like her. Not at all. I think there's layers happening here.

This should be interesting.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand random:

That image is the shit. Just epic coolness Chas. I love me some make fun of that dolt, and I love me some Daleks. What could go better?

As far as Amy and her action Chas, I don't know? To me it seems that if 11 were paying attention and BEING the Doctor, he wouldn't have needed her to do what she did, but he was being a bit of a prat. I liked that she was willing to risk it all and make the choice that she did. To me, that just made me like her more. She saw what 11 should have. She understood what 11 missed and if 11 wasn't so busy doing his best Pattinson impersonation he would have seen it. I feel like the whole point is that this time around, The Doctor is going to be more likely to screw things up. 10 was brilliant and could fix shit seemingly with ease in a lot of situations. He was kinda piratey in a way. Swing in all suave and smiley, save the day, then leave. 11 I feel is going to be like the awkward kid in school. He has the right answers, but he is too busy being awkward to think of them.

Just my thoughts so far. Having watched it again, I don't particularly dislike 11, just miss 10's charisma and flare and well, competence.

well in all fairness to Amy..at least she had a reason however flimsy to push the Abdicate button

...I would've pushed it without that reason.....

Granted I also would be asking why no one had bothered asking the other bajillion nation ships out there for some refugee help....

or at least searched for a hospitable planet or SOMETHING besides oh look...we're all gonna die...yay

but regardless... Abdicate button would've been pushed without bothering to listen to the Doctor being pissy about his decision to be an enabler.
