Apparently it is on the History Channel in the US tonight.

Heaven knows when we will see it.

Is this the face of Jesus? Computer artists claim to have recreated Christ's face from Shroud of Turin By Mail Foreign Service

Computer artists claim to have recreated the face of Jesus Christ using digital technology.
The image was created by taking information and blood encoded on the Turin Shroud - the blood-stained linen that many believe was the burial cloth of the crucified Jesus Christ - and transforming it into a 3D image.
In a two-hour TV special on the History Channel, to air in the U.S. tonight, the computer artists will reveal their image of Jesus in full.
Revealed: A computer image shows a 3D recreation of the face of Jesus Christ
But the results may surprise some viewers. According to the company that made the image it does not resemble the popularized version of Jesus.
Computer artist Ray Downing, the president of Studio Macbeth, said: 'We 'lifted' the blood and isolated it [on the computer] so that it would sit 'in air' [on a transparent background].'
He explained that because the Turin Shroud was wrapped around, rather than being draped on the body, the blood was transferred to the cloth as it was wound.
The image was made by taking information and blood encoded on the Turin Shroud, below, and transforming it into a 3D image

Therefore it did not align with the places on the face from which it originated.
The ancient shroud contains a faint impression of the front and back of a human body, along with blood, dirt and water stains.

The year-long project culminated with a team of graphic artists using the newest technology to create a computer-generated image.
'I have a lot of information about that face and my estimation is we're pretty darn close to what this man looked like,' Mr Downing said.
Mr Downing claims that his technique of computer imaging actually uncovered what substance created the image on the shroud and enabled him to see for the first time the actual face of Jesus.
And he said he said he would offer an explanation for how the image ended up on the shroud.

Downing added: 'I will reveal at the end of the show the type of event that must have occurred 2,000 years ago.'

Translation: He was hung like a thimbal.

Probably be buying a sports car to compansate if he were to manifest himself here on earth.

The Shroud of Turin has been proved to be a fake so why would any imaging of the face be Christ? That doesn't make any sense.

The carbon dating has been called into question as it has been shown to be from a repaired part of the shroud. Additionally the sample contained cotton and the rest of the shroud is linen. Scientists are now trying to get material from the main part to carry out further tests.

Augh, well. It is Easter.

Ohhhh Maybe the Ten Commandments will be on.

I like that movie.

I have no problem with the idea that the shroud could be from Christ but there is simply no evidence to support it. People just want it to be.

You seem to be preoccupied with penis size today.

worth watching just to see Edward G. Robinson miscast as Dathan.

He wasn't miscast. People are just too stupid to get past the fact that he played mobsters.

That's like CSI: Miami. They take a pubic hair, stick it in a machine with lights and buttons, and it creates a 3d wax image of the killer's face, complete with dew rag and nose ring.

And Horatio says, "I'm gonna crucify him."

First he has to put on his glasses then whip them off with one hand on his hip.

Caruso is our greatest living actor.

Plus one of the experts has 'The Donald' hairstyle.

The only good character I remember him playing that wasn’t a mobster was is Double Indemnity. But I still think he was miscast in the Ten Commandments; makes me laugh every time. Billy Crystal did Robinson in commdandments in his standup act.

I watched a special on the shroud a while back. They showed the fibers being taken from several different parts including a part that had "blood" on it. Also the date attributed to the shroud is older than the repair work. It is a fake plain and simple. Some people just want to keep hoping its real.

Can't recall the details/title etc , but I saw a documentary not long ago, in it they made a damn good case for the shroud being a knock off done by Leonardo Da Vinci .

As crazy as it sounds , it was anywhere near genuine there would be a hundred shrouds competing for the 'most genuine' title.
That was the nature of the 'holy relics' game.

The Republicans and the Religious Right will disappointed when they learn Jesus wasn't a blonde-haired blue-eyed white boy. :D

So he's not really longhaired, blondish and beautiful like that of a SoCal surfer but instead a very dark haired and dark eyed man with lots of blood all over him.

Think I'll get over it sooner than soon.

*sidebar shit... there was a time when I watched Nick Cage in 'City of Angels' and he was looking at Meg Ryan's character as though he could see right through her soul that I thought, 'Holy Jesus! Nick Cage is Jesus! He truly is! If not he should portray him in another movie!"

Ahhhh, South American Cheeba got the best of me back then.

I tend to like the mystery, although as a Norn Iron prod I'm not a great believer in relics.
