Police are warning people in an area of Franklinton to take cover as a man with a high-powered rifle is randomly firing shots from a house there.

No one has been reported struck by gunfire, but police are trying to keep pedestrians away from Campbell Avenue between Avondale and Dakota avenues. The area is just north of I-70.

The man began firing about 4:20 p.m. from the second floor of a house in the 1000 block of Campbell Avenue.

Police have surrounded the house. The man may also have a shotgun and handgun inside.
Anyone know the latest on this?

If this is the action of a mentally disturbed man, then one can only hope that the issue is resolved without injury or the loss of life.

If this is an attempt to publicize the soup, those doing this are beneath contempt.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Police respond to reports of gunfire.

A man reportedly has surrendered to police in Franklinton after holing up in a house there and firing shots randomly into the neighborhood.

According to a police scanner, the man was "in custody without major incident" as of about 7:50 p.m.

Neighbors reported that the man who fired the shots was Billy Damron, 21, and that he lived with his grandparents.

County records show the house where the shots were fired from, at 1006 Campbell Ave., to be owned by Harry and Betty Damron.

If this is an attempt to publicize the soup, those doing this are beneath contempt.

I did not surrender....

Never surrender, never give up...

Wait that was a moving motto. Galaxy Quest.
