If an old thread's gonna get bumped, this one was a good choice. It covers 90% of the newcomer questions in a single bound.

now THAT I like. I love the fishnets, I love the corset, and I love the mirror that she's sitting on.

That's not a mirror it diamond plate, chromed.

And from what I can see, the legs are close, it's a she.

I guess it is diamond plate. I didn't catch that. I simply thought "what an odd pattern for a background..." It is a nice photo though.

I need a larger screen. Or maybe change the resolution on my netbook.

YES SHE.... LOL that's not what I meant... sometimes thing get lost in translation! LOL ........

This one that you have up, the one in the corset with the stockings. That does something for me. It speaks to a great many sexual preferences of mine. It's a good avatar without being too personal.

Granted, a lot of people do seem to be here exclusively for the forums, the GB etc., but the organizational relationship between the "stories site" and the "forums site" strikes me as being unnecessarily complicated - it's like Two different sites, each with a public member page.

It's is a pain in the ass, everybody has a member page, linked from their nick in the forums, which lists basic info, sig line, etc., but doesn't tell you whether that member has any stories in the story database, unless they have taken the trouble to link the second public page, that every member who has submitted stories has, the member submission page.

To recap, if a member has submitted stories, they have Two public pages, a member page, accessible form the forums, and a member submission page, accessible only from either stumbling across one of their stories and clicking on their nick, or by searching the database by nick.

There is no way of navigating from the public member page to the public submissions page unless that member includes a link on their member page under contact information, or in their sig line.

Most of the time, I end up searching their nick from the search stories page.

My other gripe is that there is no way to get back to the stories database itself from the forums, unless again, you can find a link in somebodies sig line.

I dunno, it's not a huge deal I guess, but it does sort erect a wall of separation between the stories and the forums, like they're Two completely separate sites with a merely incidental relationship.

I cant see where this is more than one function, generating a link to you your member page when a member submission page is generated, though granted, I have no idea what the source code for vBulletin software looks like.

The story part of the site is the site. The forums are an add on. A freebie for the users for the most part as it generates nothing for the site but possibly interest and uses a lot of bandwidth.

Would seem logical to have your forum profile link to to your story-side profile by default, redirecting people to the revenue generating side of the site without having to jump through hoops.

It already shares a database, so why not pull your submission page and make it a standard -- prominent -- part of your profile? Perhaps even generate a link below the avatar to the story-side part of the site as well.

Maybe no one has thought of it at Lit or it hasn't been suggested.

Give Manu a shout and see what he has to say. It might be as simple as unlinking and relinking some code.

*Chuckle* Think he's a little buried right now. He still hasn't gotten around to fixing all the forum links that are broken on the main site in any directory except /stories/ that I reported a while back.

Send him a note anyway..... and a shovel. :D
