There doesn't seem to be any practical links on this site. If you click on my profile, why doesn't it automatically link to the story that i submitted

Just on the forum. If someone clicks your profile from the story side of the site, they can find your stories on the "stories/poems" tab.

Copy the link from your submissions page from the browser address window, and paste it into your signature. That will give people a way to find them from here.

ETA:

For a more elegant solution, do it this way

My Stories

Comes out looking like this:

My Stories

Obviously, you'll want your own link in there :D

"Hot"

Any story that currently has at least 10 votes and a score of 4.5 or better will have an H.

"E" means editor's choice ( the person approving the stories found it especially appealing )

"N" just means New. It's been posted for a week or less.

"W" means it's won a monthly or themed contest.

A red 'H' on your first story? Well done, that man. It means that readers rate it '5' more often than '4'. Of course, it will probably go down over time as we have some assholes around who love cutting everyone for the talent they don't have. Enjoy it while it lasts.

You'll wonder eventually, so may as well get this out of the way, too :D

Sometimes, you may see your vote totals go DOWN, and your score change.

This happens because the website regularly performs "sweeps" that remove votes considered questionable. The only known criteria is multiple votes from the same IP/ID. Beyond that, it's all speculation. If the people trying to manipulate the voting knew what the "Hoover" was looking for, they could avoid it.

Don't depend on your score as a single determination about how well your story is received. It's too easy to manipulate. A combination of all the stats and your feedback is a far better yardstick.

hey that's pretty cool...i had no idea how it was tracking...although i don't mind if it goes down. That probably only matters if you're seriously in it for the prize money

Don't forget that you can keep track of your stats on your member's page.

http://www.literotica.com:81/members/submissions_view.php

That updates your votes, score, and comments in real time. Views only update a couple of times a day.

You can also take advantage of the "recent activity" link on the left once you have too many stories to keep track of. It tells you when people favorite you as an author, or one of your stories, or leave new comments on your stories.

I know i'm probably just suffering from noob disorientation, but wouldn't it make more sense if all these different parts of the site wee accessible from a central point

Hey stranger ;)

You can post a link to your stories in your profile under the "website" link. And yes, the H might disappear. It did for me. Pout.

*Laugh* Yes, it would.

Problem is, it would require recoding the whole kit-n-kaboodle from the ground up, if my reverse-engineering of the code isn't miles off base.

I'd imagine that it's simply beyond the time scope of the owners to deal with right now.

i see, there's always a logical answer involving code. widgests and doo dats

Hi, Mike, and welcome to the AH. Also, congrats on having a H on your first story. :D

No, it would not make sense. You have two indexes, one that anybody can access to see what you have written and one that only you or somebody who knows your password can get to. The latter has your score, the number of views and the number of votes and pending stories. If anybody could get there, they could do all sorts of things, such as deleting stories that are posted, submitting dumb stories under your name, deleting PC and some other things that I don't even want to think of. They could even edit your pending stories without your knowledge.

Find the link to your member's page on the main site, Box. ;)

That's what he means by central. Nobody else would see your stats, they would see their own ( if they have a profile and log in )

You have to dig through the site quite a bit as it's organized now to find everything.

I can reach your bio by clicking on your name, and most authors have a link to their public index in their sig line, and maybe in their bio. :) I have no business going to anybody else's personal index or CP, and nobody has any business going to mine. I can reach mine by logging in or clicking on a prearranged favorite link. To get to my CP, I click on forum, and I suppose everybody else does much the same.

*facepalm*

I'm trying not to be a dick here *laugh*

Nobody said anything about anybody viewing anybody else's personal information except you :p

Find the login link from the main site. Tell me how many clicks it takes to get there. For anybody who's new, it's a hedge maze. YOU know how to get there. I know how to get there. How does somebody new find it?

It's not centralized. There should be a login link right on http://www.literotica.com in an obvious place -- probably the first thing you see when the page loads.

This voting is really being done in Kabul to make it more legitimate. Right?

I'm curious myself. I just started writing and have two stories posted. one of them is at 4.62, but only has 8 votes, so I have to get 10 before it gets a H beside it?

The two requirements are at least ten votes and a score of 4.5 or higher.

Welcome to the AH. I'd recommend starting a new thread with a new question versus adding it to something else. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the website or writing in general.

Watch out for Jenny - she likes newcomers barbecued. :D

Hi, PREM, and welcome to Literotica and the AH. This is a fun place to hang out, but sometimes it disttracts you from writing.

4.62 is a really good score for a first story, although that has probably changed by now. as FF says, you need at least ten votes and a score of 4.50 to rate a H. :)

ETA: You should add a link to your signature, so more people can read your stories and comment on them.

okay... so my story isn't published like ya'lls but I put it in a thread.... welcome comments, suggestions for changes...additions...etc.

wckd-n-wild...more to cum in the playground ~_*

Did you check the dates of the thread you were posting on? This thread's been dead for MONTHS!

grins... sometimes it's like burying a treasure... :) and seeing who'll go digging for it. so you find the oldest thread....and post ...and see what happens ~_*
