Seems I end up attempting to do this thread twice a year. Anyway, here we go...
What: It's generally accepted that if someone had super powers they'd be a messed up individual. I mean, if you had the super power to shoot lightning from your fingertips you would probably use it to charge your iPod, until you thought of how it could be used so you could rob a bank. This game sort of explores that idea, but at the same time plays off of other series in the super hero comedy genre.
Super Hero Comedy Genre?: Ever heard of the Dark Horse graphic novel by Adam Warren known as "Empowered"? It's a comedy about a superheroine who has severe body image problems and an even more severe lack of confidence. Her super powers sometimes work and sometimes don't and she often finds herself kidnapped her supersuit (the source of her powers) in tatters, and bound and gagged (sometimes with the supersuit itself). This allows for some sexy comedic moments at her expense. If you haven't seen or heard of that however, how about Dr. Horrible's Singalong blog, a video series starring Neil Patrick Harris as a rather inept supervillain, Felicia Day as the girl that he falls for, and Nathan Fillion as the foil to Dr. Horrible, the charismatic super hero Captain Hammer. It's a comedy of errors where Dr. Horrible struggles to become part of the evil league of evil and make Penny impressed enough to fall for him, only to have everything go horribly wrong when Captain Hammer enters the scene. To a certain point the movie "The Incredibles" fits into the genre as it was light and didn't really take itself all that seriously, but it is a bit less of what I'm aiming for here.
Really, it's the idea of super heroes and super villains not being exactly what you picture when you imagine super heroes and super villains with comedic results.
How this works as an SRP: Super villains who kidnap inept super heroines, truss them up and then have a little fun with them is out of the ordinary and does sound sexy. It's even funnier if the super heroine totally gets off on it and is upset at the super hero who eventually comes on scene to save her. Super villains who only became super villains so that they could get beat up by super heroes as some sort of fetish is kind of funny. Similarly powers that manifest themselves in silly ways, or simply silly powers could allow for some SRP content with some comedy. Perhaps some sort of Sailor Moon Transformation sequence that in the middle has the girl in the nude and as a result all of the villains have to take a quick break in the bathroom to relieve some sexual pressure, or fall over from nosebleeds or something (or possibly become less enthusiastic about the money they've stolen and more enthusiastic about the girl). Really, there are almost an unlimited number of scenarios where this could go sexual, but seriously, there should be a reason for it to get there. Don't just jump into a car and rut like rabbits because you can, after all, I'd like to keep a ratio of one part S, two parts RP (why do you think there are twice as many letters for RP anyway?)
Who I'm looking for: Patient people. Seriously, it always takes about a month for me to gather enough people to actually start something on this game, and then I start and half the people aren't around anymore because they got tired of waiting. Don't join if you are going to quit before it starts unless you are bringing me three people to make it a speedier start up. People with a sense of humor. This story is a sexy superhero comedy. There will be jokes, and there will be a lot of them. Creative people. If you are only going to write like a line every post I don't need you, I'm sorry if it sounds cruel, but seriously, it messes up the pace when I have a bunch of people who write whole paragraphs and then there are two people who write little short posts (especially when they get together to do a sex scene and it takes up two pages of posts with "She moaned softly as his hips rocked into hers." "his hips picked up a bit more speed and he cried out softly 'oh baby'."
Blue's Rules for this RP:
1- Share the stage. Remember, everyone is the main character of their own story
2- Don't try to be super god. Seriously, this pretty much fits into the other one. If you have all of these crazy super powers and can do anything, I'll turn it into a plot arc where we hunt you down and kill you.
3- Stick around. This game is likely to have a big cast, and we are likely going to need everyone to stay around so that no one else gets tied down forever waiting for you.
4- Feel free to play more than one character. But only if you think you can handle it. I think that the best number of players for a group thread is between 6 and 8 people, because it's small enough that you can keep track of everything, but not so small that if one person disappears the game comes to a screeching halt as we wait for them or someone to pick up that role. That being said, I think that the optimum number of characters for this game is ridiculously high, because we'll need super heroes, super villains, sidekicks, henchmen, and all of that other stuff. Feel free to create civilians, or bring in heroes or villains who will never show up again.
Now, all of that said, if there is still anyone interested in joining, I look forward to hearing from you.
