Ahhhhhhh, yeah, wouldn't know anything about that since they didn't consider being a single mother a permanent disability. Pffffffffffffft, clearly whoever made those policies wasn't a parent and had NO CLUE how expensive kids are.

Okay so you had a bad experience do you really want to do a hand raise vote to see who has dealt with bad landlords? Heck right now my hot water system is leaking all over my roof sending my water bill up, my air conditioner is hanging off the wall and the back patio is sinking into the ground because ants are digging out the dirt under the pavers.............*shrugs* You just gotta keep going Hun, so you had one bad landlord that doesn't mean they all are or that you would even have the same trouble ever again.

heh...it's more like I'm a little leery of who I trust to keep a roof over my head. With my mother, it's easier because she knows exactly what it's like (being in the same situation on all fronts, including the disabilities). Still, I'd actually prefer living on my own. But if I suddenly found myself in possession of Cedar Rapid's Four Oaks facility, or Independence's Mental Health Institute (both of which should be sued out of their property for the shit they put kids through), I would definitely need roommates.

oh definitely. Try raising one that's lazy while your other one is disabled. At least the lazy one wouldn't have any trouble GETTING a job...keeping it is another matter o.o That's what my mother has to deal with.

Have you and your mother considered renting a place or getting a place that has two residents to it like a house with a sleep out behind it or granny flat?

Then you can have the best of both worlds. Independence and security for you both.

No thanks. One very happy daughter is enough for me. I'm quite content for her to be an only child and right now she's only 18 months old so I don't have to worry about her being lazy yet.

we're renting a a trailer that she and her boyfriend will eventually be buying (doing a land contract from her mother). Eventually, she thinks I may be able to get on assisted living through diagnosis with Aspergers. If I lived on my own, I'd want a place that was big enough for me, out of the way, but where I could still get to places I need to go. And I'd have to own it.
