What would it take to get together a series of good stories from here to enable us to release them on the Ipad? I wondered about this the other day, and wouldn't have a clue on how to go about achieving such a thing. Any idea's? Or would erotic stories be frowned upon?

I doubt that erotic stories will be frowned upon. Is ipad (I HATE that name!) going to have a proprietary format? Other wise, it's relatively easy to create PDF's and many people I know make their fic avialable for download in that format.

iTunes sells explicit songs and R-rated movies. So I don't think that would be a problem. What will be a problem is the "legitimacy" of the "book." It's incredibly easy, as Stella notes, to download any e-book now onto a laptop and there should be no problem with having them on the iPad either (and I hate the name, too!).

BUT, if you're talking, as you seem to be, of the book feature, meaning you download the book from the iTunes store and get to turn the pages as if reading a book, etc., well, that's going to be limited at first to publishers, the books being ones that are also appearing on shelves. Eventually, that may switch to all books whether or not they ever appear in a bookstore. Just like you can download music now that has never and will never come out on a CD, or certain movies online that were never on tv, in a theater or DVD.

But I wouldn't hold my breath on that switch happening this year or maybe for several years. The iPad will need to be at least somewhat popular, and reading books that way will need to be popular. Even if the iPad is popular and people start reading all their books that way, it's still going to happen slower because far fewer people read than download music or movies. For the near future, it's far more likely someone will develop an app to make books you've written readable like books (and payment going straight to you) on iPhone/iPad than for erotic stories that aren't ever going to see print to be featured on iTunes.

If you want to make money with your erotica here and now, I'd start sending it to web e-book publishers or, yes, selling it directly on Amazon.

I must admit I don't like the name either, it doesn't show any imagination in my opinion. Thanks for the replies guys it's appreciated.

Wait 'till the dust has settled about pricing and format; there's a bit of a row brewing about it.

Doesn't seem like the Ipad would be all that for reading ebooks. PDFs and graphic programs maybe, but I like the Sony Reader and Jetbook for reading. More comfy on the eyes. And that backlighting has gotta hurt... maybe.
