Feeding the Blue Beast

No new refineries have been built in the US since 1976.

I didn't realize the Democrats have been in power at all levels of government since 1976 thwarting petroleum companies at every turn. We need a second or even third party to offer American an alternative in the voting booth.

Yes, sad but true that the democrats block anything that looks more advanced than horse and buggies.

There are many reasons refineries aren't being built. You should spend time to research the list of reasons... instead of displaying standard (and dull) characterizations and generalizations. When a fact was introduced that refuted your claim you avoided a direct rebuttal because there isn't one.

Leave the shallow, populist-or-bust analysis to professionals like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Ed Schultz. Sure, it makes them wealthy but being affiliated in any way with their easily manipulated (and willingly ignorant) audiences is not worth the time.

Ed Schultz, the Peanuts guy?

Yes, the liberal environmentalists use the myriad laws to tie everything up so that nothing can get done so that we all return to the stone age (that is, except for the liberal leaders who retain their private jets). The simple truth.

I agree with you that Bush spent too much. He should have been more circumspect about spending. That doesn't mean that the next Republican President will be so profligate. It also doesn't mean that there's no difference between the parties. The Democrats have quadrupled the annual deficit to levels that genuinely frighten many citizens and economists and plan to have the huge deficits for years to come.

We saw two things this week, the failing of the Post Office, unable to meet the changing of the world and the reason why the Republicans did not reign in spending.

As soon as one attempts to reign it in, one is labeled a monster, the victims are trotted out and the press goes on attack to protect big and growing government (also Clinton V. Gingritch). I mean, look at the Democrats, with much ballyhoo, patting on the back, and a sense of superiority, the passed pay-go and gave Obama a chance to make a grand and eloquent speech on how we were returning fiscal responsibility to Congress, and then Congress simply ignored the law it passed to reign in itself every bit as much as it ignores the antics of the tax-cheaters such as Geitner and Rangel...

Congress is a "Blue Beast" indeed, stuck in the 1930's and the idea that you go to Congress to expand its charitable and regulatory role.

The believe neither in the people or the market.

What was one of Nancy's first acts?

Shut down the drilling. The plan is to hike gas taxes. They are going to TAKE our cars from us...

No more Saturday mail.

That will give my grass two days of rest from the postal worker's boots.

I like a smooth ride.

Sometimes I get on the DC metro just to go for a ride. If you get off at the same place you got on, its free (and a good way to kill an afternoon (although, the underground portions can get boring)).

There are forests in Kansas? Who knew.

We were forced to leave the greatest state in the Union in order to seek financial and educational opportunities. More's the pity...

Now we live in the rain-forest of the bootheel on the Mississippi.

Good point. The only way we'll be able to have cars is to put windmills on top of them...ineffective for transportation, but the dems have always liked programs that sound good but are just empty gestures.
