My terrible guilty pleasure is Real Housewives of Orange County. And this season I am obsessed with Alexis.

http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-orange-county/bio/alexis-bellino

I want to be her. Ok, a slightly less dimwitted version of her. And I have my own tits and nose. But whatever. I like how she always looks hot. I think I'm going to start rocking the MILF look. I like how she dotes on her husband, and serves him, and puts him above everyone else. She is just the perfect submissive wife. I heart her.

Oops, hit post too soon.

So, which celebrity is your D/s inspiration? Is there anyone you channel?

there is no celebrity who comes to mind whom i find inspirational or admirable in a D/s sense.

but there is a character in my favorite novel of all time, "The Good Earth," who i channel frequently whenever my submissive spirit is aching or selfish thoughts creep in: O-lan, Wang Lung's wife. she grew up as a low kitchen slave in a "Great House," she was literally sold to Wang Lung with never the slightest hint of choice or say. she accepts this. she is considered too big and too ugly, she accepts this. she goes home with Wang and is the perfect house slave, perfect cook, and works the fields right behind her husband. she bears child after child in silence, without shedding a single tear of pain, and pauses to prepare dinner and clean the kitchen in the midst of giving labor. she will do absolutely whatever is necessary for the survival of her family. she is unerringly obedient to her husband. she respectfully bears the addition of a pretty concubine to her home, a woman spoiled lavishly and adored by her husband, who receives all the infatuation, desire and affection he has never shown for her.

she is selfless without exception. her whole life, she asks only one thing for herself, from her husband...this one thing is given to her but later callously taken away to be made into a gift for the concubine. O-lan does not complain. she just accepts. and most touching of all, for all her service and devotion and obedience and selflessness, her husband never loves her. not for one day, not for one moment. this too, she accepts.

when i am feeling like my lot in life is too hard, or that i "deserve" something more, or that i want this, that or the other from my Master....i meditate and think of O-lan, the perfect submissive.

That chick looks extremely high maintenance.

Lucy! she was a bad, bad girl. those spankings from Ricky never did her a lick of good.

get it? "lick?"

Delia Day. I know it was all a fake, I know Travis wrote everything, I know Susan didn't really do anything. But I love the fantasy that was Delia Day.

I don't have a wealth of realistic role models to pick from when it comes to this.

I like that doggie dominatrix woman they have on I think animal planet. She wrangles the people, they don't even realize they're the ones being trained, because they're often celebs and just not the brightest bulbs in the pack. She's strict with them and direct, but doesn't make them feel like morons. The dogs are really just a vehicle to better discipline for people or more understanding and emotional intelligence, or more assertiveness for them. When they change their behavior the dogs change theirs.

Victoria Stillwell, "It's Me or the Dog" Netz? I love that show. :)

Oh, she is. It's terrible! But her husband likes that about her. Mister Man would die if I spent that much time or money on my appearance. Oh, and she's a stay at home mom with three kids and TWO nannies. That part is not inspiring.

I'm kind of weirdly obsessed with really made up women. They're sort of like alien creatures. Or maybe half robot. I don't know. Something about them makes me unable to turn away.

I'm kidding about the hero part. But I don't know, I think this woman is sort of terrible and I'm obsessed with her, all at the same time. Maybe it's also that she is on TV proclaiming how she defers to her husband. And high maintenance she may be, but she is absolutely sincere about putting her husband first. The other wives think it's awful how she dotes on him, isn't allowed to travel without him, etc.

Ohhhhhhhh :heart::heart:. Love her. And Lucy and Ricki are a lot more relevant for us than my plastic OC housewife. Wait - Honeymooners - Mister Man jokes about being that guy sometimes. And he identifies more as a head of household type than as a dom or master.

I have never read the book actually. I love the ideal of carrying on in adversity or sadness.

I just read the wikipedia page. I'd never heard of this person. So she killed him?? Crazy.

I have seen ads for this show but never watched it. I would like to be this way at work though.

The other thing I love about Alexis is how cheerful she is. She isn't cranky and she's so patient. Then again, she's a little bitchy to the women. Maybe all of her patience is used up on her husband. Perhaps I should reconsider this person as a role model. :p

Your description sounds somewhat like this guy's wife. Though my buddy would never tolerate two nannies or fake boobs.

I cannot think of a single real life, or fictional, hero, or role model.

Yeah, I don't know if she's really any kind of D/s hero or anything, I just love zany, funny women and my relationship with L is firmly rooted in humour. We are very much like that vaudeville act, always playing off each other for the crowd.

Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Madeline Kahn, Gilda Radner, etc, I grew up thinking those women were so cool.

ETA: I loved Jackie Gleason, especially in the Honeymooners. What an incredible talent.

The only people I can think of are people that I know. I'm constantly inspired by my friends.

cheerful/perky people really, really tick me off. it is the only personality type i have such a violently negative reaction to. i mean literally, i find creepy lonely pedophiles more endearing than cheerful people.

Yep, that's her. I haven't seen it much, but when I did I was like, these people are getting a Domme. She plays up the angle with her outfits, but not to the point of total stupidity.

Well, I was semi-kidding about the hero thing. I don't actually have a shrine to any ubersubs in my house or anything. ;)

Loved Gilda Radner. :(

I'm not at all cheerful or perky, and never really have been. But I always wanted to be one of those happy go lucky bubbly cute girls in high school. Instead I was perpetually the angry gothy Jewess. It might have something to do with the fact that everyone I went to high school with looked like Malibu Barbie. Chilllllll was the mantra. Anyone who knows me knows I really just don't do chill all that well.

Funny, I was just thinking about that post of yours when I was browsing the humiliation thread.

Nope, thank god. Y'all would be a bad influence on him. There's far too much Domly creativity in this room to do me any good whatsoever. ;)

I'm so glad mine isn't interested in posting here. I'm terrified he will one day come across JM's ideas about torture with spiders, and find it completely inspiring.

I used to rebel against the cheerful, perky people when I was young(er). I used to find them annoying, fake and shallow. Then I grew up.

Happiness is beautiful.
