What do you get from Literotica's forums?

I'm fairly new to the forum although been a member of literotica since 2006.

I must say I was very intimidated by the forum and how people know each other on the whole and talk in short burst that only people who know each other well can.

I think my aim on the forum was to get to know a few women for camming sessions and a remote chance of a meet up although i think Ive done enough of that.

Yet, I seem to be drawn into the more serious discussions on politics and the environment etc. I've done something similar on music forums about a certain artist only to talk about other artists.

perhaps it's the knowing that everyone is here for a 'base' reason which is a given but finding it far more interesting delving into other peoples ideas on other subjects.

What do you get out of it? Is it just the sex side or is it companionship? heavier discussions or a light hearted passing of the day?

personally, it is a way to blow off some steam and snark at individuals with opposing views. It is largely unproductive because the vast majority of folks have strongly held beliefs - so you aren't changing any minds (no matter how right you are!). There are some very smart people here (even when they are being idiots) so there are things to be learned on all sides of an issue.

Besides the picture thread, I make up pretty much everything else. I don't take this board or any other online board seriously. I even purposefully bitch at women on a mothering board I belong to just because it's hilarious when they get overly defensive over something as silly and petty as male circumcisions. It's funny how pissed off people get online when they don't know you and when you log out neither one of you really matter to each other. ~shrug~

Sometimes I'll post an honest question on a board but I don't expect an honest or even an intelligent answer. Especially on Lit. It IS a porn board anyway. I generally get more intelligent answers from other boards if I'm talking about politics or anything else that matters.

We all can just state our opinions. No one here is qualified enough or credible enough to be a source of facts and sound advice on the real intellectual topics. So if you're posting about your opinion on something, go ahead, but if you really want to hash out a topic, I'd suggest you find another board.

Oh, and another board similar to this one is your local Craigslist Rants and Raves. They jab political jargon at each other all day long, plus there is also porn.

I have noticed that i have got a bit too worked up over subjects...not in a good way. I need to realise where I am for sure.
I don't have time to go to purpose built forums and talk.
But most of the things I say on here are what I believe in and between a lot of BS there are some posts that make you think and make it all worthwhile.
I have some fun to which I guess is the main thing. If you can't enjoy sex then it's time to put the habit on and lock the door

I found a place that one can talk about almost anything if they are brave enough to in any they want to.

Sure they may catch hell and people call them names, make up lies and run them down both on the board and in PM's but then that's what friends and acquaintances are for.

Also if anything major is happening most of the time you can find out about it here first or almost first.

I really believe that whatever persona (alts excluded) someone puts up here is a fairly good representation of what they're like in real life. At least the ones that have some posting history. I don't believe the long timers that say it's just a facade, purely for their entertainment, they're nothing like that

Sure, it's only the internet and you can get up and walk away at anytime. But the truth is, people are not only anonymous posts behind an invisible keyboard. They are as human as you are and universally get just as worked up, whether they admit it or not. That includes the politics, the directed hatred and the sex as well.

The ones that deny that the loudest are the ones to watch out for...
