In many - if not most - instances, if you call those places who want to be paid online with debit or credit card and explain the situation to them, they will work with you to arrange a different (and do-able) mode of payment until the investigation is completed and you again have full access to your funds. Alternatively, your bank may be able to help as well, setting up a temporary account to make necessary payments. Either way is, of course, a horrendous pain in the ass, but it's better than getting things cut off for lack of payment. Especially if it's body parts they cut off. :blink: Gawd/ess, my mind goes in weird tangents sometimes... :blink:

Right, and they've all been fairly good. All the big bills are fine with alternate forms of payment or holding off until things get straightened out, it's the little things like cable/internet that are being annoying. The problem is more the lack of card than anything. These places want me to pay online with a card, or in person in cash. Neither is an option, since I don't have a card at the moment and without the card, I can't get cash out of the ATM.

The rest of my family is all on me right now with the whole "this is why you have an emergency credit card" bit. Whatever. I still think they are the devil's invention, even if they would make life EXCESSIVELY easier for me right now.

Just frustrated and feeling powerless.

As SW said, you might ask about a new account.

When some asshole wrote 8k+ off of my checking account my credit union was kind enough to create a secondary account and then make it the primary and close the one the fraud was on. That way, all the important numbers (to me) were the same and there wasn't the worry about having more checks or other fraud show up at a later date. The new ATM card was issued the same day, though it took awhile for them to put the money back. :rolleyes:

The problem isn't with my actual account, it's only with my debit card. Relatively easy fix. They just have to go through the whole fraud investigation and send me a new card. So I can write checks all day long, and anything that's drafted automatically from my account is fine. It's just things that go on the card that are affected. Some places are just being retarded and don't want checks: card or cash only. Since my bank isn't local (it makes no sense to, I move around too much to keep changing banks and this one really is good to work with), I can't just pop in and write a check to myself.

It'll get taken care of. They still say I should have a new card this coming up week. It just stresses me when I'm not in control of my money.

The stress is understandable. Hopefully the people who want card or cash will pull their head out long enough for your new card to come.

I really don't want to work on tax stuff. On the other hand, it would be absolutely fantastic if it was done or close to being completed.

DAMN good SuperBowl, even if the team I was pulling for lost. Sean Payton deserves a contract extension at much bigger numbers. So does Drew Brees.
