So, how long each day do you dedicate to your appearance? Bonus points for saying why. Someone on another website mentioned that time spent improving your appearance pays back very well, and that it was a high priority for them.

I spend very little time on hair, clothing. Some days i dont even check. I shower daily, wash my face with cold water and soap in the mornings and im regular cleaning my teeth (because I only one set and I'm quite attached to them). This is all I can think of.

Some of my friends won't leave the house without makeup and an outfit, and the idea of going without is not a possibility.

Time spent: 15mins, a high estimate. (brush teeth x2-3, shower, facewash, floss some days.)

Daily morning routine always involves shower and teeth clean.

Takes me about 35 mins in total to wash, blow dry my hair, stick a bit of makeup on and get dressed. I dont do the full works ever, I hate foundation and powder...makes me feel clogged up. Depending on what I am doing and whether I am going to work...I will wear just a little or none at all.

My usual makeup would be blusher, eye liner, mascara and lip gloss and I'm good to go.

I pluck my eyebrows whenever I remember lol....twice a week maybe.

Have my hair cut about every 6 weeks if I can afford to.

I am terrible at taking my makeup off at night, but am gonna try to get into the habit.

I moisturise my face and bod every day and shave most days too (not my face :D)

Once a week, usually on a Sunday evening I try to have a bit of a face pamper session....scrub, mask and moisturise. I'm 40 and try to take a little care of my skin. Since living in Oz i always slap on the sun lotion. my skin isnt too bad but thats more genetics than beauty routine I think lol

It's health dependent. I definitely CAN leave the house in sweats and with no makeup and looking pretty damn fried and frumpy when it's -50 out, or most days if I just am not going to be seen by anyone in particular.

If I'm leaving the house for fun purposes, having an appointment with other humans, going out for coffee/food/music whatever, I will put in about 1/2hour to 1 hour of makeup, selection of stuff to wear, accessorization, washing, grooming blah etc. I'm very efficient at makeup and I like wearing it, so it's not a special occasions only thing. I can't understand M of the 40 minute showers. I mean, I can clean everything twice, shave my pubes and dry off in 15 minutes, what gives? I can understand long baths, but just standing there in the spray bores me.

I can go a long time not giving a shit and then go through states of "I want to be presentable" at other times.

And while I work from home and never leave for long stretches, I *do* try to keep the "I work so long I can smell my pits" days to a minimum. Ick. It's a work-from-home thing, when we're honest with ourselves, right?

Depends on what I'm doing.

On a typical work day I'll take 20 minutes to shower, and brush my teeth. Takes another 10-15 minutes to blow dry and style my hair (it's just so damn thick!). I really miss the days when my hair was long and I could roll it in a bun and go. But Jounar likes it short....which reminds me I need to make an apointment to have it trimmed. I hate payin for hair cuts which is another reason I like it long. Then it's a bit of makeup which is more my employer's idea than mine. My store manager and my supervisor have both made comments that it looks "more professional" if I wear makeup. Personally I think it's rediculous for me to have to put something on my face that's just going to get caked up and feel more nasty than I already do in a greasy environment. Finally it's 5 mins to iron a shirt and dress and I'm good to go in about 40 minutes.

Now that time may vary a bit depending on if we're expecting visitors to the store or if I'm not feeling well. but averaging between 25 and 45 minutes.

Now if I'm going out I can spend up to an hour and a half showering and primping. I like getting gothed out and going to the club, and that heavy make up takes a while.

I try to do a beauty mask once a week, because I work in a greasy environment and by the end of the week I just feel icky.

I also like to wax my legs about every 2 months or so and that takes a good 2-3 hours to accomplish.

When I'm planing a visit to Jounar, I spend the month getting ready. Packing the perfect clothes, teeth whitening strips twice a day, plucking my eyebrows, waxing everything possible as close to fly day as possible. I also force myself to eat better, exercise and get lots of water for this month to help myself travel easier.

And admitedly when I was there he spent a lot of time waiting on me to finish getting ready and I spent a lot more time primping than I usually do.

Days off, I can forget to shower. If I'm not going anywhere, it's minimal primping. mostly, just pulling my hair back.

I have started doing this the last few months, taking care with hair and make up. About 1/2 hour tops, but compared to my stay-at-home-mom routine of, well, nothing - it's a huge improvement!

I do notice that I feel more confident. It's all in my head - I think I look nicer, so I act more confident, so I look nicer...

Depends. I shower/bathe in the evenings, but I only wash my hair about twice a week, cause I have really dry hair and any more than that and my hair gets really brittle. In the mornings it depends on how I feel when I wake up. If I'm REALLY tired, I just get dressed, pull my hair back in a bun, and put on my glasses. But that's rare. If I'm in between, or in a hurry, I do all that and brush my teeth and floss. I'm trying to get in the habit of putting on a bit of makeup in the mornings, and doing something else with my hair, though. Even with makeup, and all that, I still rarely take more than 15 minutes getting ready. I shave my legs a couple times a week and my armpits every other day or so. I don't use lotion, because I'm allergic to most lotions. When my skin is dry, and when I remember, I use grape-seed oil. The place I take time is my feet. At least once a week I soak in Epsom salts, and use the loofah sponge on my skin (it softens your skin and makes it easier to exfoliate) and the pumice stone on my feet. I either keep my toe nails painted or I make sure they aren't, cause I hate that in between look (you know, chipped nail polish). Etc., etc.

I might spend about 30 minutes a day.

I shower usually every other day, at which time I shave and wash my hair. I never dry my hair. I let it dry naturally. I curl it sometimes which takes about five minutes. Otherwise I pull it back and try to jell down the waving stray hairs.

My make up and hair routine is 20 minutes tops and it's pretty damn good too if I do say so myself! Some days it's just sun block, and blush. Others it's full "show" make up.

Once I had to look "perfect" at all times. My husband seems to think I look fantastic no matter what. That's allowed me to relax a bit and wear less make up most of the time. I think my skin looks younger for it. Personally I think people that worry too much, and spend to much time and money on appearance are in the wrong ball park. I don't think it pays off well at all. I think it just makes you high maintenance and, often, neurotic.

See, I don't notice a difference in how I feel, or even how customers interact with me, from when I would roll out of bed, brush my hair and go. Infact the only difference I notice is that my coworkers now seem to be expecting something big to happen, either I announce that I'm running off to Ireland to get married or that he's coming here for what ever period of time.

Now, I do notice a differnce when I take the time to eat better and exercise. But not when I put makeup on or not.

*shrug*

I'm a pretty laid back, jean-and-tshirt kind of girl. I shower every morning at the gym after swimming laps and brush my teeth as soon as I hit the locker room at work. I don't typically worry about my clothes since I wear scrubs at work and make-up/hair would be a waste of my time since I scrub in on surgeries so I'm wearing a bouffant cap and a face mask the vast majority of the day.

If I'm going out then I'll spend a bit more time choosing clothes to wear and doing something with my hair, maybe a touch of lipstick and that's about it.

I just got a buzz cut so no time on my hair. Weird thing was a man did it. Guy working in Walmart. First man since my navy days.

I shower every day and wash my hair and brush my teeth. But if I'm going somewhere, then I'll also do my hair (which involves blow drying it, then styling it a certain way, depending on my mood or where I'm going). Then I do my makeup. The amount of time spent on that also depends on my mood or where I'm going. Annnd then I get dressed, put on shoes, jewelry, etc. My whole girly side comes out when I'm getting ready so it takes me a little longer.

If I spend more than a quarter of an hour on my appearance, it's going to be for a girl, and she'd better fuck like a horny bunny at the end of it.

shower, teeth brushing, hair brushing, dressing...

That's the basics and I have it down to a science~15 minutes for everything TOPS. If I decide to be a bit girly and dress up then that adds another 15 but it is a very rare day when I feel the need to dress to impress. I am 37 and the mother of three. My girl loves me and so does my baby mama...who the hell else do I need to impress?

4-5 days out of the week, I have to be up between 5 and 5:30 am. It takes me a while to properly wake up, so while I take care of the basics at home: showering, brushing hair/teeth, jewelry, coordinating eye catching business casual outfits :D, I save the makeup for the bathroom at work. It saves me time, but my makeup also stays fresher, longer since I don't do it until I get to the job.

My work is somewhat high pressure. I teach financial literacy workshops, have to memorize a lot of details, have to be prepared for off base questions, personal stories and tales of woe, all while appearing to be unfazed and professional. I feel that properly managing my physical appearance in the morning gives me extra confidence and also makes me look like the responsible facilitator I'm supposed to be.

Mind you, on days when I have to go to the office but DON'T have to teach, then I'm a bit more relaxed with my look.

ETA: Props to baby daddi. :D

Appearance

I wouldn’t count showering as appearance, I just don’t like my stink. By the way, shave your armpits, it’s like magic, reduced scrubbing time to like 30 seconds.

Lets see, I comb my hair and fluff it a little so it’s not matted down. Takes about 1 ½ minutes. Brush my teeth to keep them pretty, daily time, about 10 minutes. I use a trimmer for my beard, and keep a beard cause I’m lazy. So trimming and smoothing edges, about 1-3 minutes depending on the day. I think that’s it.

So about 8 minutes in the morning.

I get a haircut when it becomes a bitch to wash.

Way too long.

I am not a morning person at ALL, which means that I HAVE to shower and wash my hair every morning or I have zero chance of feeling lke I've even woken up. It also means I go through the shower etc routine in slow motion because I am half asleep.

My tooth-brushing and shower takes 20-25 minutes (shave legs and pits; wash girl-parts and bum with fragrance-free soap; wash body with shower gel and sponge; buff face with exfoliant wash (if I don't do that daily I get zitty); wash hair; condition hair; wash face with astringent face-wash to get hair-conditioner residues off (if I don't do that daily I get zitty).

Then it takes me about five minutes to put my body lotion and my face-moisturiser on (cos I'm still half-asleep).

Then I blow-dry and style my hair (10-15 mins).

Then I put my makeup on. I always wear makeup because I'm self-conscious about my (albeit not-very-obvious) acne scars. So that's mineral foundation (blend blend blend), concealer, eyeliner, mascara, blusher. 10-15 mins.

Then I get dressed. That takes about 90 seconds lol.

So that's a total of between 45 minutes and an hour. Just to face the day. Even on days when I'm not going to do anything but walk the dog and work (I work at home).

I so envy people who can just be up-and-at-em.

5 minutes or so

I take my showers at night so I get to sleep an extra 30 minutes or so (very much not a morning person, but work starts at 8:00). I get dressed, pull my hair back in a pony tail to keep it out of the way, brush my teeth and go. I may wear makeup 2 or 3 times a year, if that. For outside of work, I generally just run a brush through my hair and leave it at that. I wear scrubs at work and just cloth pants or shorts and t-shirts out side of work. I don't think I've bought any make up since my wedding over 8 years ago. I did wear makeup and do my hair for that, but it still only took about 30 minutes. I bet it comes from being the smart one growing up; my sister was the pretty one, so why should I even try?
