A couple of weeks ago I was invited to head a ways west and join a group of Paintballers in one of their games days. Today was the day.

I pulled my old B.D.U.'s out of the closet this morning and pulled them on. I drove out to the field where I joined up with the rest of the group.

The rest of the group looked at me and smirked as they walked around in their new issue type B.D.U.'s and checked their custom Paint Ball Guns over one last time. I walked over to the range shack and drew my gear.

One Paint Ball Gun with spare CO2 tank.
250 Paintballs in Splatter Orange.
Face Mask.

I was given a few minutes to check out the field as I was new to it then the games began. The group I was with was teamed up against another team. Both teams had worked together for quite some time and were good. You could see it in the way they moved.

The scenario was my team was to attack the other team in a defensive area. I told the leader of my team to keep going and pin the defenders down as I did my thing. He just shrugged and took off into the underbrush.

Me? I took off for a culvert I had seen on my tromp through the woods. I knew it opened up right behind the defenders. I found the entrance and started crawling through. It was tight and it was wet and nasty. The culvert was maybe 18 inches in diamter and there was a nice layer of stagnant water in the bottom of it. I was back in my old element.

I crawled and wriggled through this culvert for a couple of hundred feet until I came to the end. I peeked out and smiled before slithering out. The entire ten man team of the opposition was lined up on the barricades and shooting into the brush. All of them were looking away from me.

I rolled to the side and found a nice place of cover and got set. Taking aim I started from the left and worked my way to the right firing rapid fire. (Single shots) The range was maybe 20 feet so I couldn't miss. They had absolutely no clue about where they were getting hit from until it was all over and I rose from my place. Oh man were they pissed off.

The rest of the day went along the same lines but with varying degrees of success. (I was untouched in the Stalk Hunt while accounting for six of them.) The Ambush we set up would have worked perfectly, (We had nine out of ten in the Kill Zone,) except one of my group let loose with one of the earth shaking farts that register on Seismic Meters in other states.

I was killed twice in the course of six games.

It was only after we had finished and had gathered for Soda and Coffee that I found I had been playing against retired and active duty Military who had top of the line equipment.

I'm thinking I might have to get back into this game and start playing it hard.

I would need a lot more time and practice before I would be up for that one.

They have capture points, respawns, 4x4s and ride-on lawn mowers as tanks. It sounds totally overdone to me. But he enjoys the hell out of it, so good for him.
