Ok, so I was just reading some of the commentary on the post discussing the double standard that quasi non politically correct statements are subject to when made by public figures. Then a question popped into my mind...

Is there a connection between political viewpoint and bdsm orientation? Are more doms conservative vs. liberal? The opposite of that? Are subs libertarian? What about peoples who live in parts of the world who aren't under the subjugation of an enforced servitude to a two party only system?

I think a poll is in order but that may be too limited. How about discussion?

I would think doms are more often Libertarian and subs are more often better off making me a tasty sandwich.

I'm far left with some strong Libertarian undertones. Dominant. I basically think that people in power shouldn't kick their slaves when they're sick.

I do think that government is not always in opposition to the best interests of the people, I do not think that "government is always the problem" and I resent that Regan kool-aid. But I do think that its interventions should be light and prudent.

I do think it should keep its interference to a minimum in the daily life of the individual.

I'm pro-gun, pro-choice, get the fuck out of the marriage question, and how DARE they consider a new Wal Mart a reason for eminent domain? but I do believe that people need protection from the huge capital of private interests, and I believe the government needs to be an intermediary. I believe that fraud should be prosecuted. That the customer is right.

I think people have an obligation to be contributing members of the society to their ability - and that we collectively need to care for those without that ability. I also believe that it should be *feasible* for hard workers to make a comfortable living, and as of now this is not a possibility for the majority of us. There's something wrong with that, and for some reason those least able to get ahead would rather defend the fantasy than deal with the disparity.

good ??

Great question, have often wondered this myself.

I would be categorized as middle right wing or conservative I guess.

The fed govt. is to big...I am pro-gun..not pro-choice...I don't care who marries whom not my business let people be happy...I believe in the Constitution. Fiscal reponsibility...Capatilism is the way out of our mess...Banks should be held responsible for fraud etc. To heck with eminant domain...I support the war on terrorism ( not Iraq eventhough I have been there 3 tours) I think the whole sep of church nd state has been misinterpretated..I do not mind th 10 commandments at a court house..I believe the Pledge of Allegiance should be said in schools with the"under God" part.

So I guess I am more middle than ight who knows.

I am a sub that can and enjoys to switch and I have had Bisex. encounters if any of that helps anything

I'm the anti-libertarian. Like Daniel Bell, I'm socially conservative and economically liberal.

My psychosexuality is male-supremacist.

:D

I'm mildly-moderately left. And mildly-moderately sub.

It's better to do a poll. There are conservatives here who won't speak up because the board is so left wing.

I'm right wing, but not a republican. They're idiots. My 'party' is independent, so I can choose who I think is the best candidate, not who that idiot party, the republicans, think is the best candidate.

Also a sub. I don't know if I'd call myself very submissive or not, and don't really care if I am. LOL

Left wing. Perhaps my political conception of leftism is different to those of you in the US - I am a product of a nation that has a free health care system as well as a no-fault injury treatment and compensation scheme (we cannot sue for personal injury in NZ). Plus there's only 4 million people here, so we possibly have the ability to engage more freely with a central political system.

Limited tolerance for any interference by the state into the lives of private citizens. ZERO tolerance for any type of inclusion of religion belief into the affairs of government, particularly in the education sector.

I switch.

I'm politically apathetic. I'm planning on voting Conservative in the next General Election because of the unholy fuck-up Labour has made of the country in the last decade, but aside from that I'm so not bothered it's untrue. I don't want to concern myself with politics because it is not something I can change, I just want a relatively unbothered life.

I'm Australian and not very political, I don't know what I am when compared with the American political structure. Not much help, probably shouldn't have posted. Just what was on the tip of my tongue after not understanding what you guys were saying.

*sweat drops*

Tree hugging, dirt worshipping, peacenik who kicks ass, takes names, fights the power…and melts into a tiny puddle of goo at Chuck’s feet.

Mark me down as: “Confused”

If you are going to use a chipping gun that big, you might as well just rent a compressor and a real jackhammer. ;)

pretty far left wing. Don't know if it has anything to do with my orientation.

My husband is so apolitical there is no descriptive for him. He couldn't care less.

I'm a socialist and a dom. Most Scots are somewhere on the left, part of our caring culture. My subbish partner's on the left too.

Orientation: Dominant

Political: Socially libertarian & economically liberal

To use the quick and easy lables.

I am anti-corporate power... yet I feel that entrepeneurship is good.

I am anti-monopolistic

The US needs to get with the rest of the world and go single payer on the health care program...

There needs to be social safetynets...

Government should get the fuck out of my bedroom...

I really don't care who marries who... If I ain't the one getting married, I don't care...

This isn't so strange, actually.

Someone once said that "Corporations are an invention by which personal profit can be maximized while personal responsibility is minimized." Or something like that.

Sadly, I've spent enough time amidst the ranks of the corporate leadership realm to know that by and large, most of them -not all- would sell their mother's soul to back role a two for one split selling their kids' souls. Greed is a sin. Profit isn't. Profit allows us to be charitable.

Dude... I am stealking that Greed is a sin profit isn't like for my sig.

I am a writer, and yes I want to make good money being a writer.

I don't hate on Steve Jobs for making a boat load of money for inventing the computer in his garage.. more power to him. Hell, Bill Gates was the right person at the right time to build a software empire...

However, once the entrepreneur has given way to the corporation the humanity is destroyed. They lose the spirit of creation and become solely about maximizing profit and appeasing Wall St, damn the responsibilities.

At a corporation I used to work for, we had our medical benefits slashed. For the money he saved in doing so, the CEO got a multimillion dollar bonus. That is evil.
