Thnk about all the bullshit in the news. How many things can you come up with that mean shit to you?

Jay Leno got cancled and might go back to late night. I could care less. he ain't funny.

Simon (Cow) Cowell quit. I don't care. He was a divisive asshole on a program I didn't watch anyway.

Dennis Weaver is dying of prostate cancer. That's sad, but do I real care? Will this destroy my life? I doubt it.

The Texas School Board is beating up some kid because his hair is too long. So?

A CNN poll shows 51% of Americans think Obama is doing a good job. So? Goes to show at least half of Americans are stupid. Ask those same people if they have jobs. ha!

A new find in the news from Egypt shows that Jews didn't build the pyramids. Duh!!! The Egyptians built the pyramids. More stupidity.

There are hundreds of others.

This week I'm buying two Red-Top newspapers because they have cheap holiday offers.

Reading them is taxing my brain. Apart from the half-naked women, do people want to know about the private lives of soap stars in graphic detail for several pages EVERY DAY?

My life partner is a gerbil.

Lets see: DO YOU CARE THAT OBAMA WANTS AN ATM AND CREDIT CARD TRANSACTION FEE TO KEEP GM OPEN AND REPLACE THE BILLIONS GM PISSED AWAY BUILDING CARS NO ONE WANTS.

That wasn't on my list. Everything Obama does is either useless or squanders billions of taxpayer dollars. Then the asshole got a raise. He should be on umemplyment.

As an interesting asside. I saw an article in the Ticker on CNN yesterday that claimed the most often google was "Assasinate Obama" Tell yo something?

Yeah, I wake and weed through the headlines as well. They are often ridiculous to me, especially those headlines that have to do with movie or TV, or especially reality tv stars (who the fuck are the Gosselin's, and who cares if that idiot named ... well, I don't recall his name exactly, maybe it's Stuart, is giving people like the Today show guy (Al Roker) a hard time, and I really am not interested in who wears panties or not ...

HOWEVER, as much as I don't like things, or don't think these things are newsworthy, I think it's important, in times of economic recession, to understand that many people prefer to read about the hardships of the rich and the pseudo-tragedies of the semi-famous than to hear about people like them, or worse off than them. Like it or not, JJ, such stories make those suffering hardships feel better. :)

But we've known this for years !
Hardly news, as stated ,is it.

Duh !

There's more men in China than women so if a Chinese man isn't married by the time he is 40 he will more than likely die alone.

That was obviously going to happen consider they abort and do anything to dispose of a baby if the first born is a girl. That and the limit on children. (Though I myself have known people that I think should have had a limit on how many children they can have)

If you haven't, read the short story "The Marching Morons" by C. M. Kornbluth. The Wikipedia entry for the story summarizes it well. Sometimes it does seem like we have marched a good distance toward the dumbed-down future envisioned by Kornbluth in 1951.

Odd you mention Cyrle Kornbluth. He was an interesting fellow even befor he became editor of AMAZING Magazine. And yes. I've read Marching Morons.

Half-naked women is stupid. Why do things half way? Show naked women like Daily Sport.

But the Daily Sport doesn't do £9.50 holiday offers.

Even if they did, can you imagine telling your pensioner friends "I'm going on a holiday with the Daily Sport"?

Perhaps, since this is Literotica, we could...

So far we've been to Normandy twice, to Paris and to several places in the UK. I'm not sure the family holiday resorts that participate in The Sun and Daily Mail offers would want to be associated with the Daily Sport.

Our morning daily paper just revamped their format, in a desperate attempt to remain relevant and retain readers. They're filling Section One with local news, with the exception of any breaking national news, like the Haiti thing, for example. Section Two is for the rest of the news.

On the Huff post website, the celebrity news is over on the right hand edge. I find it can be entertaining, reading about the stupidity of overpaid celebrities, but I usually save that for last, if I even get to it.

Some will claim that the media are prioritizing celebrity news to distract us from what's really going on in Washington. In other words, they're all in on a secret plot to enable the powers-that-be to get away with all the money. In retrospect, the powers-that-be already did get away with all the money, but I see media incompetence more as a failure of the for-profit system of news entertainment than any kind of secret plot.

We really only have ourselves to blame. The news outlets with the most credibility are the ones with the lowest numbers, which proves that the American public prefer style over substance.

So Jenny, I believe your rant should be directed at your fellow citizens, rather than at the media that serves them.

Oh, I see you already started your rant against your fellow citizens.

I am curious, though - what does Obama have to do with unemployment? Are you suggesting he impose socialism so that everyone can get a job? Interesting. I can just see the headline now: "Independent Voters Prefer Socialism." Who would have thunk it?

This is the list of UK newspaper circulation: Newspaper circulation

My daily paper, The Times, continues to be well read but nowhere near the circulation of The Sun. Bare tits sell newspapers.

The Daily Sport isn't counted. Despite its fame/notoriety its circulation is less than 100,000.

Good point, Deezire.

Well, it COULD be of interest to me... :)
lol - indeed! I forgot where I was for a minute. Of course, the colour and the material of one's panties could be especially significant to a panty fan, just as a photo of Barbara Walters spreading her thighs to get out of that Limo on the Red Carpet might be a 'fucking wow' moment to any upskirt fan with a hard-on for matures or, I might add, any photographer looking to make a cool pile of cash if she wasn't wearing any! :D

"If it bleeds, it leads" is the credo that drives the 'news' today. Tragedies and misfortunes of others, usually those of the famous and/or powerful, have always been a staple of news outlets first print, then electronic. It's human nature to gleefully see the rich and privileged humbled 'cause it makes us feel less dissatisfied with our lowly states.

The proletariat enjoy putting people on a pedestal, then knocking them from it. ;)

"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation."

Henry David Thoreau 1854

Thoreau was writing in the days before the rise of the middle class.

Of course, his words have new meaning, since the middle class has been destroyed once again.

The difference is that now, our lives of desperation are anything but quiet. We discuss all of it-- at the top of our lungs.

But...but...who's gonna pay the taxes to fund this utopia we've been promised? ;)
