Nothing but jazz...

Hello my fellow jazz enthusiasts. I wanted to leave some music for you to enjoy.

How does a little Thelonious Monk sound this Tuesday?

round' midnight

I'm including this song by King Pleasure because I greatly admire his vocalese. He was brilliant in that he would sing the words to songs that were meant to be instrumental.

i'm in the mood for love : Pay attention to the magic at 2:45 -- I think that's what's referred to as a trill? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I had to include a smooth jazz piece. Enjoy Najee.....

I sometimes get so locked into a few favorites that I totally forget to look up or listen to some of the older ones like the Monk, and the King... I used to enjoy singing like the King P, and I had that one down pat. I must say, Najee is new to me... but it was great to meet her.... Thanks!!

Thanks and you're right, I do like Vic Damone. The Great American Songbook is a gold mine to me and there's no shortage of terrific voices that make it greater still.

I do like mellow... this is a favorite of mine. Hil St Soul - under-heard most definitely.

She is so good, and the majority or the people are hearing her for the first time.
Thanks, Cathleen, for sharing her...

This is another one that is not so well know, but I think she is great also...

This is one of my all time favourite Tony Bennett performances, from "Count Basie Swings, Tony Bennett Sings." He just nails this classic song - his phrasing is absolutely perfect, and his voice is so expressive. He was absolutely in his pomp at the time and he sounds like the king of the world.

And you don't get better backing than Count Basie's Orchestra. If you haven't tracked down this album you can't call yourself a jazz fan!
