Not talking about how its written but how it makes you feel. For me its bean counter by creamer. More than any snuff story or any other story bean counter just made me sick to my stomach.

The April Series

Thank you for starting this.

For me, it's the entire undeservingly H-rated April Series by mrmxy.

I'll try to make this short. Now, the author does mention (in his first April story) that he is a first-time writer, and I guess that does go far in explaining things. I can actually understand that mrmxy should not be the one I direct my hatred towards. I probably sound like I have a lot against the author himself, but I don't. The only thing I have a problem with is the notion that this poorly-developed series of
stories (with two disgustingfemale leads) could be rated high enough to get the H-stamps, because it certainly doesn't deserve it.
.....So, how did the April Series make me feel? Well, to put it simply: Very annoyed. Disgusted. Offended. I can't choose which way to describe my feelings.

EDIT (April 10, 2014): I'm currently writing a Constructive Review on the entire April Series. Hopefully you'll all enjoy my insights.

Twilight. I got through one page, just one page, before becoming overwhelmed by nausea.

...Oh, stories on this site? Umm. Dunno. I just hit "Back" when that happens.

Do I really have to go read this series? Because all I can tell so far is you two have queasy stomachs, and one of you is so obsessed as to apparently dedicate an alt to reaming a submit.

Or is this some fantastically absurd marketing strategy to get more reads?! OMG...what genii!

This Is Bullshit

You know I may be wrong here, but this seems like a horrible thread. Starting a thread to call out other authors by name and talk about which stories you hate and why just seems petty and mean. If you have problems with the content of a story or you feel it is inappropriate, there is a reporting tool for that.

AprilSmithSucks: none of us wrote well when we first picked up pen and paper (or a keyboard). These people whose stories you are calling out may have fans that disagree with you or may have friends on this site.

They are going to stumble across this thread at one point or another and see that you are intentionally hurting their feelings by talking shit about their writing behind their backs. You have something to say to these authors, about these authors or regarding their stories, say it in a private message to that author.

This site (the forum site) and the main one are for people who are dedicated to the art of writing and reading erotica. Don't drag others down or trash stories in public because you are unhappy with someone else's writing. You want better? Write it yourself. You want to know what people think of your story? Put a request for feedback up.

God forbid you find one of your own stories on this thread. Bet you'd think differently then.

*nods emphatically* That is one of the worst series ever, ever, ever. Stephen King says she has no business writing at all, and how she got published is a miracle. Like you, I picked up Twilight at B&N one day just to try to see why everyone was making such a fuss. I actually lasted three pages

I know its bad when I actually feel the need to *gasp* comment on something! I was almost suckered in by the hype on these books, but fortunately I saw some previews for the first movie before I wasted any time and/or money.

And besides, I believe Stephen King - he's never steered me wrong with an endorsement :)

As usual this thread was started by some ass who has never posted anything. Where do these jerks come from?

Actually her publisher is freaking BRILLIANT because they found a way to [legally] rape every 16 year old girl and 30 something house wife in America for money. Seriously! The ONLY reason Twilight is as popular as it is is because of those two demographics.

Add to that the fact that apparently one of the books is just a re-telling of the first books and you have to admit the woman is genius.

I wish I could earn that kind of money for that quality of work cuz I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Well Sgt Paul and miss jenny...

It is the Story Feedback Forum.

And you miss jenny seem to believe that it's ok to insult our readers every chance you get.

And just about every time a new poster arrives you and your gang feel it's perfectly ok to jump up and down on them.

It's time to change BOTH both your attitude and you AVATAR young lady...

Hahah, that's what I was thinking. The all-time champ for Mary-Sue and most annoying female in (barely qualified) literature has to be Bella. Edward's just the typical stalker and Jacob exists for his shirtlessness (oh wait, that's just in the movie - moving on).

"Christmas Wish" by beaverhunter76. Wonderful story, gave me nightmares for days.

Jim:

What I said was said to stop people from attacking the works of other authors. If people want to comment on commercially published work that they paid for, ten fine. But author bashing is, to me, unacceptable. I made my point in the beginning and haven't said anything since, until you felt the need to call me by name.

For someone who is always telling others to change their avatars, why is yours still the same?

I’m not going to suggest that this is a great subject for a thread. Simply that this is the STORY FEEDBACK forum and if readers want to criticize a work this is the place to do it. It’s not the GOOD STORY FEEDBACK ONLY forum.

Our problem (and I include almost all LITEROTICA authors in this) is that we love good comments but immediately label any bad comments as unacceptable, unfair bashing. Which is bullshit.

Nor should it be a question of whether a story is commercially published or not come into it. By putting our stories on a site like LITEROTICA we invite comments – both good and bad.

As to the AVATAR – it’s only the ugly ones I want to change. Choose a good one and stick to it is my motto.

As to our adorable jenny (and her AVATAR): I’ve come to believe that simply changing your AVATAR (in her case to a kinder, gentler version) can do wonders for you. Look how much LBJ has improved since he changed his.

I have only two major problems with the young lady and her posts:

The first is a minor one but a continuing irritant – this behavior has been going on since I first posted (4 years):

1) She and her gang have been, and still are, extremely unwelcoming to new posters. RUDE and MEAN on their good days. Unlike her I’ve never believed that either the length of time you’ve posted here or the number of posts made, guarantees any kind of intelligent posting. In fact the reverse may be true. Less is more?

My second problem with the young miss bothers me a lot. She’s not the only practitioner of it but I’d say certainly the worst.

2) She continually demeans our readers. ASSHOLES and IDIOTS are her most complimentary terms for these wonderful people who come every day to read our work. My opinion is that if she hates them so much she shouldn’t continue to post her stories on the site. Reader bashing is a hundred times worse than author bashing. Love em or leave em hon…

I don't feel the need to defend my words, I believe that they are pretty clear.

I didn't ask you about Jenny. She's a big girl and more than capable of defending herself.

And as for avatars, I find yours to be run of the mill, bland, and nothing entertaining at all. For a person who runs an entire thread dedicated to asking others to change their avatars, I am surprised at the lack of personality in your avatar. Maybe I am missing a connection between your avatar and you, maybe there is some personal meaning. I don't know. I chose mine because that is a picture of my bike, and that is an important part of my life. My previous one was military and lego, a statement about my personal conflict between childhood ideals and my profession. You have a soft-core picture of a young woman that looks like it came from MetArt.

People write what they want to write. If you have comments for the authors, then you take them to the author. That is part of professionalism and tact. If I want your comments on my work to be put on display in a forum, I will start the thread and ask for the feedback myself. I've done so on both stories. Plenty of authors don't want the feedback. I say leave them alone unless they specifically ask for feedback. If you have something positive to say about their work, then please, share it with the group and promote good literature. If you have something negative to say about their work, take it up with them in private. Help them improve.

As far as the thread goes, I think it would be a wonderful idea if it were confined to media that is promoted through advertising. What's the worst TV show? What's the worst novel you borrowed? What's the worst movie you watched? You take time and money for these things, and they are produced for the masses. People here on LIT are burgeoning authors (in many cases) and criticism should be private.

Take your problems with Jenny to Jenny. Don't bash her in response to my postings. I won't have it, and she deserves better.

~Paul

I am done with this conversation. I will not sit here and argue with James any more. My platoon Sergeant once gave me a great piece of advice:

Never argue with an idiot. The next person to come into the conversation can't tell which of you actually is the idiot and will pass judgment on you both.

I believe that I have made my points clear.

James, if you would like to continue this discussion in private, I have my PM's turned on. Other than that, I will not engage in more discussion with you on this thread.

He gave you good advice, the platoon sgt that is.

His AV is stolen from an old French nudist site. He and his alter Ego Sarahhh had the same one years back. He even screws himself up. :D

Are you sure you understood your Platoon Sargeant right? I’m not sure if you’re on drugs or what.

The masses? Isn’t that who we’re producing stories for?

Are you really suggesting that in the STORY FEEDBACK forum on LITEROTICA we should be discussing the worst movie or TV show we’ve watched? That we should never give negative feedback on a LIT story in the LIT STORY FEEDBACK forum?

Sometimes I just want to cry…

I don’t pm. Bye.

Oh don’t worry. My comment to her had nothing to do with you, instead it had everything to do with her posts. It’s a continuing dialogue and disagreement we’ve had for over four years. She doesn't like our readers - I do.

You are very wrong, Scouries. I do not dislike most of the new writers. My PM box is full of those I've given advice too then have come back for more advice.

It's YOU I don't like. You are a hemroid on the butt of Lit. Now it's time for you to retire.

Scouries,

Been away a while but it's nice to see, like normal, you've been chasing your mangy tail like a rabid dog and spewing out ridiculous venom that makes no sense.

This place is about story feedback - try that one more time - FEEDBACK.

Why you dribble about readers I have no idea. No-one here, except you, is rude about readers. Guys ask for a comment on what they've written and, in our different ways, we try to help.

When was the last time you replied to someone here asking for advice. You are, according to your Oedipus complex, the writer sine qua non on this site after all.

To start a thread asking people to rubbish writers without justification could be mildly amusing on AH but is horrible here - just like most of your bullying, offensive and lying threads.

sr has a habit of commenting on stories without ever reading them. You just try to destroy a forum for your personal amusement.

If you had balls you would move your silly threads here to the AH. I know why you don't - you are scared shitless of facing up to the criticism of those who see you for what you are - an empty kettle who can't get the votes he thinks he deserves.

Well, since you brought it up . . . no I don't comment on stories without reading them--I comment on your and Jenny's lame, uninformed advice from time to time when you give dumb advice (e.g., "third person POV is the only sophisticated POV"--from you, and Jenny's ever laughable mixing up of POV and tense and her propensity to jump on someone's spelling ability with words like "definately," or both of your smug instructions on how to write erotica, when neither one of you writes it).

In this current to and fro between Scouries and Jenny, I think they are both right. I just haven't piled on like you like to do.

And if you want to go another three rounds with me, Elfin, remember that you are the one who took the first pot shot on this thread. Personally, I don't think you have the chops for it--certainly haven't had up to now. And shouldn't you post another story here some year to show readers how terrific you are at it? ;)

(The only thing worse than no advice is bad advice.)

Feedback versus disrespect

Am I wrong in trying to make a distinction between serious feedback and starting a thread to bash? I understand that the original poster probably meant no harm.

To me, and this is just my opinion, feedback on your work is constructive criticism about the plot, or technical aspects of writing (tenses, misuse of words, etc) that is either solicited by starting a specific thread, or left in the comments section. Private messages are wonderful as well. The threads are typically started by the author to understand where they went right and where they went wrong in a story. Readers and editors alike are free to comment and, generally speaking, try to keep their criticism or praise professional. These comments are directed to the author and though usually posted in a public forum, are written for the betterment of future stories and writing in general.

Now bashing, on the other hand is something different. To me, and again this is my opinion, is feedback that has nothing to do with the technical aspects of writing, nothing to do with the characters or plot and is not directed at the author. Really, that is my biggest contention with this thread. Simply the fact that when you reference stories on LIT, you should have the courtesy to do so in the author's own thread (because many of us DO ask for feedback). To start a thread like this is essentially inviting others to talk behind someone's back. I understand the anonymity that we all enjoy, but to do something like this smacks of a lack of personal integrity. I think that the moral courage inherent in all of us (and I know we have it because we write and then invite to have our work torn down so it can be better) gets thrown out the window when we do something like this.

I didn't mean to soapbox, or threadjack with this, but I am very disappointed in the views of some people on this thread. To define what goes on in this thread (not the whole forum, just this thread) as feedback is bullshit, because most of the authors mentioned here will not know that they were even being talked about. That's not feedback, it is disrespect.

No, I don't think you were wrong to make that distinction.
