Woods finishes the Front Nine!

Despite his selection as "Athlete of the decade", Tiger Woods hasn't finished the course.

Hahahah.

You know, everyone keeps saying, "Who cares?" and "What does it matter?" and all that. And it doesn't, matter, of course. It's not "news" so much as gossip and all that. What those asking this question seem to miss is this isn't about Woods having sex with lotsa women--it's about the same thing it is when righteous politicians are caught cheating. What was presented to the public vs. the truth. If Woods had presented himself as a womanizer from the start--and he could have! Athletes are not "elected" to office. They can be playboys and get away with it--no one would've cared (outside the wife)...and none of those mistresses would be making the news.

I mean, did Hugh Heftner make the news when he cheated on his wife? You say, Heftner is having lots of sex, and no one gives a shit, because that's what he presents himself as, and that's what you expect him to do. So it's not that we're amazed that someone cheated or had dozens of mistresses. It's that he fooled us and do so in a big way. If he'd just cheated on his wife with one woman we'd be a little unsettled by the dissonance (what we thought vs. the truth). To do so with at least nine women and counting makes us go, "Whoa! He really had us fooled!"

Which, by the way, is another thing. Did Woods really think, with his name and fame and all that, that none of these ladies were ever going to go public? Cheat with one woman and you might keep it under wraps, but with nine and counting? Either he's not so smart as we thought or he really wanted to be caught and caught big-time as these ladies are spilling all the dirt.

Tiger Woods's wife wants divorce: People magazine

Oops, Tiger stepped in it this time.

Looks like the wife doesn't want to play the back nine.

Maybe her refusing to "play the back nine" is the reason he's been out screwing other women. Some girls like that, yanno. LMAO

That's what always amazes me. Every time. That quality of self-deception. Pure, Shakespearean, tragedy.

Tiger was initially presented to the world on TV as a golf playing tot and people have followed his career since then. He was amiable, photogenic and a very talented golfer. He projected a squeaky clean image enhanced by numerous product endorsements.

Suddenly finding out he's been playing hide the salami with a dozen or so women runs counter to his image and thus sponsors are dropping him like a hot brick. He still has his talent, but his career as it once was is finished and he has no one to blame but himself.

I wouldn't write him off just yet. What's it been a week?

Give him a month or two to tap dance thru the mine field of the public's attention span and win in Europe or Australia, then we can see how the sports world reacts.

But you're right he screwed the pooch, big time! :(

Yeah, that's the tragedy of it.

A hero; admirable, well-loved, returning the world's love as a glowing nimbus-- brought down to mortal state by a flaw he'd kept hidden. Happens all the time...

Now we see what his father taught him.

I'll bet he tough's it out, separates with his wife, concentrates on business and overcomes this.

lots of silliness, stell and 3113

stelll Yeah, that's the tragedy of it. A hero; admirable, well-loved, returning the world's love as a glowing nimbus-- brought down to mortal state by a flaw he'd kept hidden. Happens all the time...

a tragic flaw? i think oscar wilde or maybe polanski. i'd say TW's conduct is no business *of the public* nor relevant to his career-- it's as irrelevant as JFK's mistresses: it's an act in a private sphere, a terrible betrayal *of his wife*; just that. JFK carried out the presidency; TW plays golf; performance is not affected.

A couple columnists made this point, though less clearly:

Holden

The thing about Tiger Woods is that he has always tried to hide his character. There has been little or no engagement with the spectators out on the golf course, an eternal blandness in TV interviews and press conferences.

He behaved as if he were the special one, a man above all the normal niceties. He was always hiding the true Tiger, the real man.

so you guys suggest this is what woods should have done, at a press conference: "What about your win, Tiger?" "Oh, It was great. But jeez, i'm no hero. Gotta get to my new 'ho soon, guys."

on the golf course, he "hid" the true Tiger, says Holden: i suppose, rather than having been well dressed and clean shaven, he should have had rumpled clothes and lipstick smudges on his face.

i agree with 3113's initial assessment: it's gossip, not news. celebs should expect muckracking and intrusions, but that's, IMO, beside the point.

This is as interesting a topic as margarine. I like butter. It's not good for me, but I love it.

I was looking at the Huff Post and they have pix of Tiger's women. Young Blonds predominate, but leave it to the Huff Post, I saw a ad for CougerLife.com. Their tag line was, "Meet younger men for free", with a picture of a "forty-ish" blond lady smiling.

Then there is the video of "I'll bust the windows 'out your car", a pop song adapted to the story. Hilarious!

It looks like the Huff Post has scraped the gutters clean to sell those ads.

In a nutshell it's history now.

Tiger's Christmas Poem

T'was the night of Thanksgiving and out of the house
Tiger Woods came a flyin, chased by his spouse.

She wielded a nine iron and wasn't too merry,
Cause a bimbo's phone number was in his Blackberry.

He'd been cheatinn' on Elin, and the story progressed
Woman after woman stepped up and confesses.

He'd been cheatin' with Holly and Jaimee and Cori,
with Joselyn, and Kalika. The world had the story.

From the top of the Tour to the basement of blues,
Tiger's sad sordid tale was all over the news.

With hostesses, waitresses, he had lots of sex,
When not in their pants, he was sending them texts.

Despite all his cryin and beggin' and pleadin'.
Tiger's wife went investin'--a new home in Sweden.

And I heard her exclaim from her white Escalade,
"If you're getting' laid then I'm getting' paid."

She's not pouting, in fact, she is of jolly good cheer.
Her prenup made Christmas come early this year.......

You don't suppose she's ... naw, well then I don't blame him either ... the back one, I mean nine is as important as the front.
