a new whining republicans thread

That's the third time you shared that...who the fuck gives a shit! It's old news.

Anyway that's how democrats do math...take 100% of what the rich, and by rich I mean everyone making more than $85,000, and give 25% to the them that make less than $5,000 and then give 30% to them that make more than $5,000 but less than $50,000 then 70% goes in my pocket so I can take care of my twenty-seven grandchildren.

Do any of your twenty-seven grandchildren wet the bed?:eek::eek:

Excuse me, JL. Obviously, you haven't been paying attention.

There are also the accomplishments that annoy liberals, like appointing conservatives to cabinet positions and continuing Bush's wars. If "presidential" includes an attempt at bipartisanship, I'd say Obama has at least tried.

Of course, this list doesn't compare to the Tom Clancy version, so I'm sure Obama will continue to disappoint those who believe in comic books and the Tooth Fairy. (So that's where Zeb's "bedwetter" reference comes from. But this raises another vexing question: Isn't it past his bedtime?)

I meant like; acknowledging that the Afghan's don't pay taxes to the USA and so should be very low on his list of Presidential priorities. In short, "Fuck em".

Or like pressuring the the Insurance Co's to operate under the same antitrust laws as any other business. That would have been a fight worth making, but Noo, he caved in.

I guess the funding for his second run is his highest priority.

Robert P. Watson published a little list;
"Professor Watson writes

Hi friends,

I am always being asked to grade Obama's presidency. In place of offering him a grade, I put together a list of his accomplishments thus far. I think you would agree that it is very impressive. His first six months have been even more active than FDRs or LBJs the two standards for such assessments. Yet, there is little media attention given to much of what he has done. Of late, the media is focusing almost exclusively on Obama's critics, without holding them responsible for the uncivil, unconstructive tone of their disagreements or without holding the previous administration responsible for getting us in such a deep hole. The misinformation and venom that now passes for political reporting and civic debate is beyond description.

As such, there is a need to set the record straight. What most impresses me is the fact that Obama has accomplished so much not from a heavy-handed or top-down approach but from a style that has institutionalized efforts to reach across the aisle, encourage vigorous debate, and utilize town halls and panels of experts in the policy-making process. Beyond the accomplishments, the process is good for democracy and our democratic processes have been battered and bruised in recent years.
Let me know if I missed anything in the list (surely I did).

Check the last line in my sig block. The 'conservatives' who took over the party aren't my idea of Republicans, at all.

You dont know squat about conservatives. The 'conservatives' who run the GOP arent conservatives. Theyre 'conservatives' because the conservative brand sells better than the liberal brand most places. Its about getting elected NOT principles. Once elected theyre as hot to steal as the next guy.

Conservative principles are few:

We dont keep voting on something till we get the results we want. When the vote is counted the issue is decided. Every society takes its own path.

Adult humans take care and responsibility for themselves unless they cant. If you step on a crack in the sidewalk you break your mother's back, there's no appeal.
Watch where you walk.

Noses are intended to remain attached to our faces NOT stuck in other peoples bizness.

Do what you want so long as I dont get the bill for your folly. If you break it you bought it.

There's very little thats new under the Sun, and humans have been around a long time. Bad ideas dont improve with time.

Most republicans senate and house members voted against the stimulus package-- of course.

Now, many of those same people are trying to take credit for the money that package has brought into their states. A running list is here, at the Hypocrisy Log

And republicans are very hurt because Al Franken won't vouch for them. They say they are not pro rape, they just want to protect the corporations that have protected rapist employes; http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30088_Page1.html

John Stewart Mill said this, in a Letter to the Conservative MP, Sir John Pakington (March 1866);

I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it.

Hypocrisy is chief among GOP 'family values' - like cheating on your wife (and girl friend) while at the same time decrying the same behavior in a DEM whose indiscretions have been made public. (Not to mention the fact that they are also violating their own sacred marital bond - Mark Sanford, David Vitters, John Erickson, the GOP cheaters (all of whom called for Clinton's resignation at the time) goes on and on).........
Thank for pointing out the obvious to us, but this is news?
Nice list of accomplishments for Obama, though....I hadn't seen it.
Tell Zeb and the rest of the KKK that there's a teabagger docudrama just released that will justify all the bogus 'math' he used to portray the rich.....
I'd be glad to do without less taxes and government but I've been to those places where there was 'less government intervention and taxation' - some of them are classified as 'failed'....all are dangerous for anyone without security.......
Sorry, we were discussing hypocrisy.....like I said:
It's a traditional Republican value....they wouldn't be who they are without it......

And here's another bedwetting liberal who don't like Obama!

Of course his assumptions are totally incorrect but that a left wing whinny bedwetting liberal for you. No happy with anything.
Why should I give a flying fuck what a left wing loon like Hayden thinks?

You dont know squat about conservatives. The 'conservatives' who run the GOP arent conservatives. Theyre 'conservatives' because the conservative brand sells better than the liberal brand most places...
As Mill pointed out; "stupid people are generally conservatives." The pirates that hijacked the Republican party have found themselves a daisy field-- and they are engaged in a stupid-education program to ensure their daisies keep blooming.

Personally, I'm neither Liberal nor Conservative... Staunch Democrat or Republican. I'm dead set against the assholes in power at any one instant because I know there's no difference between the liars on the right and the left.

Hah! Finally, after 3 pages of this stupid wrangling, someone says something that makes sense. There isn't a dimes worth of difference between Dumbocrats and Repuglicans. They're all politicians that love being an exalted class and exempt from virtually any legislation they enact...and they'll lie, cheat and steal to stay in power.

It's way past time people should be looking out after themselves instead of waiting for Washington to do things for them. There's too damn many people sitting in the wagon instead of pulling it.

No, it doesn't make sense. It's like saying you're dead set against both truck and trains, because they both run you down.

The question is; how do you force the drivers of those trains and trucks to get back into safe driving habits? Being dead set against them doesn't make a damn bit of difference.

No, it does make sense Stella. The assumption that you can elect a politician who will do an honest job of representing YOUR interests is a myth. So how do you keep them in line?

Extreme scrutiny and throw the rascals out at the end of their elected terms. In the meantime keep them on their toes because they know they are being watched.

I'm not too happy with the press either, BTW.

It's way past time people should be looking out after themselves

But, but, that's exactly what those political leaders are doing and that you are objecting to. Maybe they do it because you do it too? And because you elect folks you think are going to do it for you personally?

Maybe you're beginning to isolate on the real problem?

Right wing, left wing, conservative, liberal. They are all a bunch of loons, looters or moochers. The only thing they all want is money and power but not in that order. The right wants the money for themselves because they believe the power can be bought. The left wants the money the right has to give it to those too lazy to go out and earn what they want, thus gaining the the power they think they so richly deserve.

What gets me is that there are so many out there that believe one side or the other and are so fanatical about that belief. The liberals think the conservatives are out to get them. To take advantage, to cheat them out of their fair share of stuff. Stuff they haven't earned.

The conservatives think the liberals want to take away their stuff that they have earned. Wait...they are.

And maybe, in the past and in some instances today a business, a company, has taken advantage of the poor, downtrodden worker. But the question begs to be asked...were any laws broken to achieve their goal? If they were they should be punished. If not, do we need more laws? Do we need more intrusions into our life by government?

The thing that gets me, is all the complaints I hear about how a certain enterprise takes advantage of its workers, yet the same people that complain the loudest are those that spend their money there. If you want to change the way a company does business, vote with your wallet not you mouth.

And with unemployment at 10+% across the country, which by the way was promised not to exceed 8% if the so called stimulus bill was past, the answer to our whoas is not more government, that I'm sure of. What I'm not sure about is how to fix it now that it is so fucked up.

Also, raising taxes is not an answer. The higher you raise them the more the tax base shrinks. The more people are out of a job. The more the small businessman decides to retire. It's an infinite loop of disaster.

And me being an unemployed high wage earner you would think that I would be all for the power of government to take care of me. No thanks. Personally, I believe the federal government should be limited to those few powers outlined in the constitution. They should provide a strong defense, regulate interstate commerce, institute foreign policy. They should not dictate the people they represent to purchase specific things. They should not take over any portion of the private sector.

They shouldn't dictate the education of our children. They should not poke their big red noses into the affairs of the individual states. Those powers not specifically granted to the federal government are reserved to the states.

So in conclusion...what the fuck, no matter what we all lose.

Right wing, left wing, conservative, liberal. They are all a bunch of loons, looters or moochers.

And representative of the constituents who put them in office. You left out the important part. :D

Zeb, you are a perfect example of a smart man who has been trained to be stupid. You reason from A to B but never to C or, god forbid, to D.

Zeb, you are a perfect example of a smart man who has been trained to be stupid. You reason from A to B but never to C or, god forbid, to D.

Sure I have, you just don't like where my C or D are because it doesn't mesh with your beliefs. My C is a small central government. My D is strong state governments. Put the power where the people live not in some magical mystery place called Washington.

Don't pass any laws that infringe on my personal freedom. Keep things simple. The more complex a thing becomes the harder it is to control and the easier it is to manipulate and corrupt.

Keep things simple.

The author Wendell Berry tossed out what I thought was a great quote at a speech at UVa yesterday. The local paper thought it was a good one, too, because they ran it this morning as their quote of the day:

"Simple solutions will always lead to complex problems, surprising simple minds."

Somehow I knew I'd have an opportunity to slip it into the forum before nightfall. :D

Worth repeating, from George Carlin.

"Now, there's one thing you might have noticed I don't complain about: politicians," he explained in a routine that challenged all the premises of today's half-a-loaf reformers. "Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here… like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: "The Public Sucks. Fuck Hope."

Then you need to start with a decimation of the population, so that your simple will be everyone else's simple as well.

Your D is my B.

Extreme scrutiny and throw the rascals out at the end of their elected terms. In the meantime keep them on their toes because they know they are being watched.

I'm not too happy with the press either, BTW.

Actually, it's more like this: They always represent someone's interests. Sometimes they don't rep yours and sometimes they do. Lucky for you when they do, tough titty when they don't. When they do rep your interests, if they can do so without sacrificing enough of a percentage of your personal convictions to make your interests selfishly swallowable ahead of other people's non-represented interests, then even better for you. Best case scenario, those interests benefit the larger population as a whole. But eventually the circle will complete itself, the pendulum will swing against you and you'll have to live off of what you hopefully saved up during the feast for the famine.

That's just life being life. We're never going to have the perfect politician, party system or government that satisfies everyone. You either accept as much as you can, change what you can change and make do with what you got, or take yourself off the grid totally and go live on an island in the South Pacific with an ecosystem that will sustain your existence until you die and leave the most minimal carbon footprint imaginable behind by becoming part of a coral reef.
