when you combine it with your posting history, you have to be wary. if you have posted the city and state you live in, someone can easily identify you. also, if you give you DOB and full name, they can easily locate your on other internet sites such as Facebook and Myspace, and any other place you may have personal information posted. if safety is of importance to a person, they need to make sure these sites are also secure and do not give out certain personal information.

If you put your name anywhere online, it is very easy to pull it up with a quick goggle search, along with where it was posted etc. Given the cllimate of our big brother age, which is getting even more so, you can never be too careful....and even then the risks are many online. I couldn't believe it when I heard last week that in the UK they are now asking people to put CCTV camera's on their property and a heap of people jumped up and volunteered to do so as they thought it a great idea!! Not only will what they do in their own place be filmed and filed by the powers that be, but so will their neighbours and anyone passing by.

Not to mention, here in NL, we will soon be forced to place a handy little tracker in our cars so the government will have a record of everywhere we have been in our car, when, etc....and the records will be kept for future reference. Sort of makes a joke of our so called free and democratic society which fought for decades against communism and is now fighting for the supposed freedom of people in other countries it views as oppressive and dictatorial toward their own people so they too can be free like we are.

I'm not a a mad-skill stalker, but:

With a Full name and a town you can easily go down to a handful of people, especially if your name is not Smith or Johnson or any other common name.

With a full name and phone number you can easily find the whole address.

With a full name you can find people's page on Facebook or MySpace

Even without name, if you use the same e-mail address to communicate with your pervy friends, they can find you on Facebook and Myspace.

When you e-mail a picture of yourself, make sure that it is not tagged with your full name if you do not want to disclose it.

Reference to local places can make you easily identifiable.

And sometime I wonder if showing clothed picture isn't more dangerous than naked ones, as you can be easily recognized from your outfits, expecially if you have eclectic tastes, or a trademark item you always wear ...

Also, remember that all your e-mail are screened for trigger words (usually related to terrorist activities and now it seems pedophile ones) and kept in the servers and can be summoned if needed. Same for phone conversations and phone texts.

I don't tell my name. I rarely post pictures of myself. Where I live is generally pretty vague, and I wouldn't do that if there weren't three other women with my name in this area. I try not to post pictures of myself that could help someone narrow down where I live. And I rarely say that I'm gonna be at some public place or the other before hand.

I've been a member, and mod, for a lot of mommy boards, and the majority of women on those boards are just plain psycho.

A board that I occasionally visit is at pregnancy.org. The people there aren't too bad, mostly cause the mods are good people and try to keep the bullshit to a minimum.

Depends on the crazy mcpsycho head. Some it's post partum depression. Some it's not getting out enough. Some women lose their sense of humor as soon as they're mothers. And some were that way to start, but now they're mothers.
