The HT spotlight is now shining on TypicalDeviant!!

Let's all remember silverwhisper's rules:
The ground rules:
1. questions or simple comments only. this is not a place to argue with someone, challenge them or attempt to engage in debate. save the arguing for another time.

2. don't be an asshat: don't ask deliberately embarrassing questions, or stuff that treads on the sacred. the purpose is to get someone to open up, not shut down.

3. have fun. try to think of engaging questions that will get someone talking.

4. anyone can ignore or refuse to answer questions they don't like, without explanation.

5. when this thread's run its course, TypicalDeviant should review the original thread and select any of the people who said they would be willing to be spotlighted.

I'll start the interrogation:

How did you discover Lit?

Do you prefer the stories or the boards?

You registered in 2006, yet it doesn't seem like you've had much to say until lately. Any reason for this?

I've read exactly one Terry Prachett novel (Wyrd Sisters). Which one would you recommend I tackle next? And why?

Oh crap, here goes nothin'.

I found Lit in college, in 2003 or 2004, while looking for good erotica. I wanted a change from the usual free porn and I was able to find stories to fit whatever mood I was in. I surfed Lit for some time before deciding to explore the boards. They were all right, oh, look, TITS! Yeah, so I found AmPics and made an account so I could see the nekkid ladies. Then I realized that the forums were actually pretty good and started posting here and there. I promptly realized that the screen name I was using was a little too traceable for my comfort and made a new, more anonymous, one in 2006.

Currently, I prefer the boards as I don't have a ton of time to spend reading the stories.

I've always surfed the boards extensively. I just only contribute if I have something worthwhile, or suitably snarky, to say. There's a lot of BS on these forums that I don't care to deal with, so unless I feel that I can add value, I tend to keep my pie-hole shut. Or full of pie. MMmmmm... pie...

I suppose I've started posting more recently because I feel like I'm becoming a part of the HT community. There are a lot of people wandering through, but there is definitely a core group, sort of like Cheers. I figured it was time to saddle up at the bar with the rest of you.

Lastly, this is my favorite Discworld book:

http://www.amazon.com/Last-Hero-Discworld-Fable/dp/057506885X

It's very well illustrated and has a hilarious story, plus a shitton of inside jokes for those who know their fantasy/sci-fi well. Or have someone nice to explain them.

/that wasn't too bad, bring 'em on

Well, I'm new to this forum a few months ago and don't know diddly about this Spotlight thing exactly, but I'll give it a go. (Or is this only a game for more established Lit members ?)

My questions:

What is your avatar supposed to be or mean exactly ?

Are you really a "millionaire philanthropist ?" LOL

How many orgasms have you "donated" ? This past week? Month ? Year ?

How'd you come up with the nickname ?

Anybody can join in the fun... The Spotlights were Silverwhisper's idea, which he got from another board he frequents.

Now for your questions:

My avatar is the symbol for the Green Lantern and the Green Lantern Corps. I'm a pretty big dork and chose it because I only recently realized that I had over 100 posts and could have an avatar. I didn't know what to use until I saw Mr. Sir using the symbol for the Red Lantern Corp, enemies of the green guys. I figured it'd be funny to have rival groups as our avatars. I may change it eventually, but I went three years without one... I suspect I may go another three before changing it.

No, I am not a millionaire philanthropist. I didn't think anybody would actually check my profile. Wow. It was just something I thought was kind of humorous. I'd like to be one, though. It'd be a nice challenge.

Orgasm donation, now there's a touchy subject. "Touchy" as in I do a lot of it... Oh man, I kill me. Anyway, today - none, fiancee's not feeling well. In the past seven days, one REALLY really solid one. She can't take more than one in a session anyway (gets too sensitive after), but after this one she was curled up, couldn't speak straight... she said he hands and face were numb. Job well done, as far as I'm concerned.

In the past month and year... enough to make my fiancee extremely satisfied. I scooped her up while she was still pretty innocent, and in many ways, she still is, so for a while, she was satisfied, but had no benchmark against which she could measure. After dating a while, she was talking with some friends who all started bitching about their boyfriends not paying them enough attention in bed, not going down on them, etc.

She nodded and offered condolences, without telling them about me. When I saw her next, she thanked me profusely and confessed that she didn't tell them about me because she didn't want them to try to steal me.

So while I may not donate a huge number of orgasms, I donate exactly the number needed to keep her happy.

As for the nickname, as I mentioned above, I used to go by something that one could more easily identify with me in real life. When I decided to start posting more often (ha, 225 posts in 3 years... "more often", pssshht!) I changed it to something suitable for Lit, but as anonymous as possible.

I figured something like BeaverEater69, I<3Blowjobs, ReallySexyManWith24inchPenisANDHugeBalls, or FuckMachine3000 would be funny for about 20 minutes and then get old really fast. "TypicalDeviant" was the first that came to mind that had "staying" power. And it suits me. I mean, no matter how kinky you are among your usual friends, on Lit, it tends to become pretty average.

Great choice Eilan :rose: - another How-Toer to get to know.

If you could create a world-wide 'Blank Manual', what would you include in it?

Is there a fictional character that you associate most with?

If you can change one thing about the society you live in, what would it be and why?

That will be all until I think of more ;) :D

If you could create a world-wide 'Blank Manual', what would you include in it?

Oh my... where to start? Driving, the basics of being a decent human and how to interact with others, what "deadline" means, curling, hockey, and swimming. Basic hygiene, too. As for sexual things, I think I'd just write up a little something about communication, being fair, understanding that it's important to satisfy your lover and for him/her to satisfy you, understanding that while something may excite them, unless it goes against the very core of who you are, you owe it to your partner to at least try it once or twice. Hell, you may like it.

Is there a fictional character that you associate most with?

Not one, several, it changes, depending on my mood. Sometimes Eric or Ari, from Entourage, sometimes Batou or Togusa from Ghost in the Shell. I admire passion, diligence, hard work, perception, caring for my friends, charisma, and sometimes just the bad-assery of those people.

If you can change one thing about the society you live in, what would it be and why?

Hm... slow it down.

Occupation?

Inclination?

Current sexual fascination? (The act or part thereof not people).

The one TV show that upsets you if you miss it?

What flips your switch as far as anger goes?

What stresses you out?

What's your best de-stressor?

Is de-stressor a real word? (My spell-checker doesn't think so).

Occupation?
auditor

Inclination?
cautious, dominant, sadistic, individualistic, passionate, creative

Current sexual fascination? (The act or part thereof not people).
oh shit... cumshots, spanking, my fiancees ass...

The one TV show that upsets you if you miss it?
I don't really watch a lot of TV. I tend to watch an episode here and there, and if it gets good reviews, I grab the DVDs later.

What flips your switch as far as anger goes?
stupidity. short-sightedness. narrow mindedness. bad drivers.

What stresses you out?
wedding planning, studying, my fiancee

What's your best de-stressor?
reading, video games, my fiancee

Is de-stressor a real word? (My spell-checker doesn't think so).
I think it is a perfectly cromulent compound word. :D

Some wonderfully sagacious replies, danke.

Also, voyeurism and light exhibitionism

I've never really been good at picking one thing...

Hey whatever floats your boat, we're not here to judge.

What's your very favorite music/musicians/singers/songwriters?

What music do you loathe?

P.S. I look at everybody's profiles (only if they're interesting in some way.)

What's your very favorite music/musicians/singers/songwriters?
Almost anything... metal, rock, rap/hip hop, techno, jazz, blues, classical. Specific bands include, but are not limited to: Rammstein, Tool, Hybrid, Manu Chao/Mano Negra, The Mars Volta, Grieg, Sibelius, Holst, Johnny Cash, Robert Johnson, Nina Simone.

What music do you loathe?
Anything soulless or that panders to an audience. To me that usually includes most pop music and a lot of what is currently called "country".

I fucking  snarky. I think we should be friends. :D

TD, i have avs turned off so i never saw yours until just now: i approve. since you're clearly a comics reader (i once was, too):

for how long have you been reading comics?
any particular favorite titles/publishers?
is there a particular run (writer & artist) that you particularly dig?
in a fight, who would win: superman or batman? and why?
with what comic book character do you most closely identify?
there's normally a high overlap b/n comics and a few other geek hobbies (e.g., gaming, whether pen & paper, computer or console; CCGs, etc). which ones are part of it for you?
for your e-mail needs, do you prefer webmail or an e-mail client (e.g., outlook, thunderbird, etc)?
preferred web browser?

You know, it's never too late to get back into comics.

for how long have you been reading comics?

Almost my entire life. I started in the '90s during Speculation, stop with American comics for a while and stuck with Manga (Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Battle Angel Alita, etc) as well as trades now and then. I got back into them more heavily at the end of college. My pull box gets maybe 10 to 15 regular titles along with another 10 or so irregulars (one-shots, cross-overs, etc).

any particular favorite titles/publishers?

Currently, DC and Dynamite

is there a particular run (writer & artist) that you particularly dig?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dynamite's Zorro right now. If you read one comic, and only one, read Zorro.

in a fight, who would win: superman or batman? and why?

Batman. Batman always wins.

Exhibit A:
http://www.lowbird.com/data/images/2008/03/batman-wins.jpg

Batman plans ahead and has the kryptonite to take Superman out.

with what comic book character do you most closely identify?

Boostergold. Not because I'm a glory hogging blowhard, but because I'm constantly trying to do good things, despite what appearances may be. Also any given Green Lantern. I can be willful.

there's normally a high overlap b/n comics and a few other geek hobbies (e.g., gaming, whether pen & paper, computer or console; CCGs, etc). which ones are part of it for you?

Wargaming, Pen & Paper RPGs, console gaming, some computer gaming, though no MMOs yet. I used to play CCGs but got sick of spending tons of cash to be competitive.

for your e-mail needs, do you prefer webmail or an e-mail client (e.g., outlook, thunderbird, etc)?

Gmail for personal use, outlook at work. I like both.

preferred web browser?

Give me Firefox or give me death.

I've enjoyed your contribution to the HT, glad you delurked with us. It's always nice to see new posters gravitate to this part of Lit.

Here's my usual: What is your first thought/reaction to the picture below and why?

It's nice to be a part of the community, thank you. Is it okay to admit that while I first came to the HT board because of the interesting topics, I may have stayed because of a crush on SweetErika?

Anyway, a few things come to mind when I see that picture:
1) Yay, bubbles!
B) Hmm... Slightly out of focus
III) Why is there a dismembered hand there?

It is a very cute picture, so as a person, I quite like it. As an amateur photographer, I critique the picture, even though it was most likely a candid shot.

There are more than a few Erika crushers out and about, she's a treasure.

As for that hand...seems one ought not dismember the hand that brings bubbles. I didn't even notice the blur in the back but whenever I see bubbles (and balloons, too), I tend to focus on them.

The blur in the back is fine, that's proper use of depth of field, but to me it seems that the dismembered hand is more in focus that the boy, who is the subject of the picture. Well, him and his bubble.

Either way, it's still a very nice shot.

TD: i dig your answers to my questions, esp the bats/supes one. :D

typical deviant quoth:
wargaming, pen & paper RPGs, console gaming, some computer gaming, though no MMOs yet. i used to play CCGs but got sick of spending tons of cash to be competitive.
i'd be curious to know more about the wargaming & pen & paper RPGs. i'm running a D&D4 game, playing in another, and getting ready to return to a campaign of the star wars saga game, but have little familiarity with wargaming, unless you count stuff like battletech--to me, that doesn't really count.

Oh man, here's the nerd coming out... damn you silverwhisper, I'd hoped to keep this on the down low...

I play Warhammer, Mordheim, Warhammer 40k, Necromunda, Battlefleet Gothic, and Infinity. I used to play Inquisitor, but am currently trying to liquidate my collection. I've played some Warmachine/Hordes and found it to be slow, boring, and that the outcome is based on the planning rather than the execution.

I love wargames as its a hobby that can satisfy almost any mood. There's building, painting, playing, and discussing the game/tactics. It is a somewhat expensive hobby, but certainly no worse than some other hobbies I could have (hunting, dirt bikes, fixing up old cars, etc).

As for pen and paper games, I play D&D (all varieties, though mainly 3.5 and 4e), Rifts, old World of Darkness, Warhammer Fantasy RPG 2nd ed, and Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader.

Mind you, when I say I play all these games, what I mean is that I know how to, and do in fact, play them at least once every few years. Regular roleplaying was easy in college, but in the real world it's a bit harder.

I've found the most important parts of enjoying your roleplaying experience is to play with a group of people you really like, focus on the story, and say "yes" a lot.

We've gone entire sessions without rolling a die and it's been just as much fun as the hack 'n' slash sessions.
