Stories tend to get exagerated.
The gods weren't what you read aout in the myths and legends. We were a dozen or so immortals, slightly stronger then most humans, faster, but no better then say an Olympic athlete.
Heh. Olympic. There's a story that needs to be told sometime.
We are immortals. Our gift of life comes from a brew I had concocted millenia ago, known in myth as ambrosia or reimagined as the apples of Adun. Drinking it was a chance. You could gain immortality, whom we called the gods.
Or you could gain great power, like Heracles or Zeus, but no longer life, whom we called the demi-gods. Yes, Zeus was a demi-god, I told you, stories get exagerated. You would call these super humans.
Or you could get a lesser serving of both at a terrible cost. These were your monsters: medusas, harpies, minotaurs, elves, trolls, and even your modern vampires and werewolves. All pay a terrile price for an extended life and a touch of power. Most are horribly disfigured, while some, like the Elves, have a bane, they cannot even touch iron. Vampires have both a terrible bane, sunlight, and a cursed thirst for blood, offset by amazing strength, mental powers and a chance at near immortality.

OOC:
Not really sure where I'm going with this, thought id throw it out there and see what comes back. I don't care much for large group threads. I'll probably come up with a way to turn it into a one on one, or at most two others besides myself. Suggestions are welcome. Post here, ooc or pm me.
