I was at the neighborhood party store awhile back and noticed that they still have that slightly covered rack behind the counter that always intrigued me as a young man, so obviously men's magazines are still being sold but in what volume? In this digital age where access to such naughty things are easily available online, it just made me wonder why people still buy these materials.

When was the last time you bought a Playboy, a Penthouse, a Playgirl, Hustler or any of those other titles? Do they still hold the same intrigue they did years ago prior to internet access?

I was just wondering the same thing with some friends the other day. I guess there must be people who haven't joined the digital age yet.

It's been many many years for me. I don't do it anymore because:

A> I can get porn for free online and

B> I've become much too jaded to be more than slightly aroused by the likes of Playboy or even Hustler. It's just not cost effective and I don't care how good the articles are.

Looking at pictures of naked women in provocative poses pales in comparison to watching videos of a woman taking a fist up her ass.

Simple answer to this,

Most people don't have a broadband connection in their bathroom.

LMAO, aint that the truth? :D

Recently, Playgirl mag went all digital and only offers its publication online now.

In the digital age, most magazines, porn and regular ones are going this route because the technology is taking them there.

This just seems indicative of what's been happening with America's newspapers- they're all going online. The one major difference is that it seems as though porn publications have held onto their media long enough and securely enough to still charge a slight premium for their content whereas newspapers let it go for free for so long, there's no way they can start charging for it now. It still seems as though the porn industry can still charge a tidy sum to keep their digital content going.

I will admit there is something neat about holding print & paper in one's hands as opposed to a laptop, a Kindle, an iPod or some sort of other digital device.

Hehehe that made me laugh :D

I still favor the printed word for some things. But porn is so visually oriented that it practically demands action, not static pictures. Pictures are a tease and might get a few seconds of my attention but they just can't compete with video. The only thing I can see myself purchasing in printed form would be a magazine about erotica, with how-to articles and insight into the world of sex. It's focus would be on informing, not arousing.

You would think news publications would continue to offer their content for free but that won't be for long. FOX is going to go out on a limb and start charging to view their online publications, others will follow. Ads don't generate enough of a profit.

Also, if anyone is interested, the FCC is beginning to debate about net neutrality with the telecommunications companies. A bill in the senate is being proposed that these companies can police themselves directing their traffic on the internet. What will it mean if this bill passes?

In a nutshell it means they will be able to control the speed of all these bits we look at on the internet. Say if you are with Comcast but you want to look at some video belonging to AOL/Time Warner, well they will not be obligated to provide the same speed at which they offer for their own downloads.

Net neutrality has been tossed around a lot over the last few years but the telcoms want to see their profits grow not shrink, so net neutrality or the lack of it is going to come to fruition soon.

The bottom line? The end of net neutrality will mean really fucking long downloads for free porn.

Seriously though, porn is one of the main arguments for the removal of net neutrality.

You'd hope that all of the money that is supposedly generated by porn that some of those bright minds & deep pockets would go fight for net neutrality. After all, faster access just means better access to offer us subtle glimpses and teases to their... uh, product. We can only hope.

If that fails, I guess we can always go back to print.

Lol, no fear! You bet your sweet bippy there are lobbyists for the internet porn industry ....it's a 100 billion dollar powerhouse, nobody walks away from that kinda money.

It comes down to this, if you like accessing whatever you want on the internet at the speed you pay for, whether that be broadband, dsl or dial up, then you are for net neutrality. Great, most are but the problem is you have these idiots convincing people that the telecoms are being prevented from being innovative with government restrictions on them. That's bullshit, they just want restrictions lifted in order to figure out how to charge you more for what you already have or if you have service in an area they don't deem profitable, they can discontinue offering it.

Lol, trust the nerds that think up cool stuff for the internet and how to make it run faster, not the big telecommunications companies.

Ah yes... nerds and porn. With that going for us, I don't see porn going away any time soon. Phew!

Right, we pay for our internet service, it's our right to watch porn at fast download speeds.:)
