I don't think they are as outlawed as one may think. I have been monogamous now for over 7 years, but before that I had been to some.

I think in Europe as well as in the US I don't think there is much difference except there they tend to call them saunas. You go into a building without windows. There is a guy at a booth that you pay money to, and he gives you a key on a closed looped stretchy cord, a towel, and condoms. Depending on how much you pay, the key can either open up a room or a locker. The lockers are like any locker in a public gym, swimming pool, etc. You get undressed there. Some wear thongs for fear of athletes foot, but most go barefoot. You typically wear your key on your arm or leg by wrapping the cord around. Then wrap the towel around your waste, and then go all over the complex in pursuit of what you are looking for. There are typically saunas, whirlpools, gyms, dimly lit rooms, individual rooms with the doors cracked open and most likely a guy either laying down face up or face down. (The direction typically indicates whether he is a bottom or a top.) There are also showers. There can also be some with bars where you can purchase drinks. There also can be some public sitting areas where you can watch porn on a TV screen. (Some rooms may also have a TV set with porn.) Typically the LEAST used area is the gym as guys tend to be there to exercise different muscles. Typically, you use your eyes and gestures to figure out who may be interested. There isn't a lot of reach out and grabbing (unless you are in a dimly lit room) as typically such behavior would be considered that of a troll -- older guy trying to entice a younger guy (or entice a guy about his age who THINKS he is young and hot). The last few times I went to such places there were some changes to make the place a bit cleaner -- no sex at all in most of the open well lit areas and defiantly not in pools or wirlpools. I think the former is just in case they ever got raided. The latter used to sound rather restrictive. However, even though the water would be chlorinated, it isn't very sanitary for sex.
