But you made me think...

I am working on volume three of a novel of early humans transitioning from nomad, hunter gatherers, to the next step, call it what you may. But a new area and era, wherein they might begin building 'traditions' on top of the 'legends' and chants they carried with them from the past.

I think there is a possible division between those 'tribes' that have a rich background in 'worship' of 'deities' and those who form legends of tribal leaders or great men, who performed great deeds.

Of course, I am going with 'great men', but should have anything to say about 'gods' or other beliefs, I would like to hear.

Thank you. I rather appreciate my handy work as well. And I know you appreciate the synthetic and nylon cords of lesser diameter over the less pliable organic hemp, even though the hemp has such a sweet smell. The sweetness of your sweat coupled with the hemp doesn't justify what the unconditioned hemp can do to your soft pale skin, and soaking, washing and conditioning the hemp to it's softest state does take some time and effort.

Amicus, you have as great a heart as any and a greater one than most. You are more concerned with the welfare of most than they are with their own welfare.

Also, my Selena is rather fond of you, and I trust her feeling and heart deeply.

I also think others take you far more seriously than you take yourself, and you use that to great advantage.

The rational world that Ami occupies is the one between his ears. When you are the sole occupant of a figment of your imagination, you are quite entitled to label it in any way you want.

Ami is fond of going after the philosophy of others and even more fond of lifting his own to the top. He confuses philosophy with worldview. From what I've read of his philosophical postings, he knows as little about philosophy as he does about WWII. (He posted that both Germany and the Soviet Union were inconsequential to the meaning of WWII.)

Ami doesn't admit error because he believes himself incapable of error. A reasonably good clue to this attitude is his frequent use of the phrase "self-evident truth", and his recent and increasing use of something along the lines of, "You want proof? Do your own damned research!"

Giving Ami credit deserved, with this one at least he isn't confusing philosophy with belief system. What he is doing again...and again...is confusing his idea of a contradiction with his idea of bringing down someone's beliefs. First, the contradiction exists only in regards to his own belief system and second, the other belief system comes tumbling down only in Ami's belief system. And that's because, as he as stated ad nauseam, he has the "rational world" as his belief system.

It's easy to paint other belief systems as irrational by simply declaring your own to be rational. Similarly, it's easy to declare those who disagree with you as being irrational by constantly declaring your own thoughts and ideas as being the only ones that are rational. It's his version of a tin foil hat.

I think not, Goldie...as time ripens, my children begin to understand the nature of society and family and the failed experiments of the 'hippy' era of promiscuity and non involvement or committment. There is no attack on reason and rationality, much less on ethics and morality. If you see all of this as an attack, perhaps you should double up on the layers of your tin foil hat.

Personally, I do have a thing for going after your moronicity. It starts with your constitutional inability to understand that claiming reason and rationality has nothing to do with being reasoned and rational. Claiming ethics and morality has even less to do with being ethical and moral.

Universal truths are self-evident to those who live in a very small universe. Claiming it is so, ah, passe' to identify oneself as (insert Amitext of choice for non-Randroid) and then immediately (in the same sentence) claim that said people are embarrassed to be so, is to be inconsistent and thus illogical. This is hardly the stuff of reason and rationality.

I won't say that this is right up there with your posting that Germany and the Soviet Union were inconsequential to the meaning of WWII, but it does reconfirm my impression that you are as reasoned and rational as a sack of hammers.
