Threads with the topic of Current Governmental National/International Politics will be considered off-topic to the AH and moved by the site administrators to a newly created sub-forum.
Threads with topics that malign or degrade (ie, hate speech) a specific person or a group of people because of their gender, race, sexual preference, or disability shall also be considered off-topic to the AH and moved by the site administrators.
An edit for clarification: Posts falling within the above mentioned guidelines can be reported by any member citing those guidelines. The admin/mod who receives the report will decide if the reported post should be moved. This seemed the fairest way to do it.
yep.I'll have to vote 'no' on this one. Reason: Current politics can, and should be debated openly, in a civilized manner.
However, I feel that Literotica should take clues from some other on line forums, and progressively warn, then eventually ban individuals that digress to ad hominem attacks on other, more civilized members, or people that 'malign or degrade (ie, hate speech) a specific person or a group of people because of their gender, race, sexual preference, or disability'
The focus should be on an individual responsibility to be civilized, rather than what topics are taboo

I am not convinced that any subject should be considered off-topic here, this is a hangout and this is where i want to talk about whatever it is i want to talk about. Off-topic posts, however, that might be something to consider. When there is a hateful post - and i do not care who it is supposed to being made a better person by examining their sense of humor (what a bunch of poo) - the hateful post should be subject to removal, and maybe the test will be objection by five persons.
I recall in college, there was a group of boys (and yes, i use the term boys when they should have been men by then) who found that i was "intolerant" to racist comments and jokes. They found lively entertainment, at my expense, by seeking me out, then saying something, just to see my reaction. I could not help then, and cannot help now, telling people off. Yes, this is a social situation, but it is where we form our opinions about the world.
Go ahead and claim that this is just an internet forum, that we can let such comments go, as they are made facetiously, or just in fun. I don't buy that. Words are powerful and they send a message.
I wish to treat others respectfully, all of you deserve that, as do I. We know nothing about each other, aside from the posts. Sometimes one must cry "foul."
such exquisite irony, jimmy. My hat's off to you-- please don't take a dump in it.Musta had lotsa dates.
You’re a fraud CRIMSONMAIDEN! And here I’d defended you.
First I just hope you’re not going to any more editing to the question under vote after voting has started. Its unethical and dishonest. I only added something to clarify after a question was asked on the other thread, and it was clearly marked as an edit. Trust me, the small added part wasn't going to change the vote of the 5 or 6 people who had voted at that point.
I also believe that before anyone else votes you better make it very clear how the system is going to work. As I tried to point out to you before its not the general question that counts, its how its going to be implemented and managed.
THEREFORE I ASK THAT YOU CANCEL THIS POLL BEFORE YOU LOSE THE SMALL TAD OF CREDIBILITY YOU MAY STILL HAVE LEFT! Give us the information we need to make an intelligent choice. Then come back and offer LITEROTICANS an honest poll question.
SOME of the QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERING BEFORE AN HONEST POLLL CAN BE CONDUCTED
1) Who can vote? Everyone. It's been stated as such since the beginning. It's a public poll on a public forum. You can't restrict who can vote and who can't.
2) Will the site administrators tie together votes from people who vote twice (or more) by using ALTS. You'd have to ask Laurel that question. She's the one who can tell who is an alt and who isn't.
3) If not how will double (or more) voting be handled? See response to number 2.
4) Will just one complaint trigger an investigation of BANISHMENT? It does for any other reported post in any other forum, why not this one?
5) How will LAUREL/MOD handle troublemaker thread/post reporters? (i.e-people who continually harass people by reporting their every post/thread). That's up for Laurel to decide and was not part of this discussion.
6) Will thread/post reporters be identified or are we to end up with some East German like system where every LITEROTICAN is spying on/reporting on their neighbor? They aren't in any other forum on this board, I don't see why that would change.
7) What is to prevent someone from creating an ALT and reporting a thread/post on his/her first post on LITEROTICA? (I’ve encountered enough of these one post wonders to know this could become a huge problem). You can't. Just like you wouldn't be able to on any other post for any other forum on this board.
7) Will LAUREL be the sole arbitrator (as you and your minions had previously claimed) or will someone else be involved as your clarification seems to point to? Laurel has made no mention of a moderator. This has been stated numerous times.
8) Has this MOD (if there is to be one) been selected? See response to number 7.
9) If not could you tell us how he/she will be chosen? See response to number 7.
10) Are we to understand from your clarification that not only threads but also individual posts will be moved? No, that should have said Threads and not posts. My mistake.
11) Where are the banished posts/threads to go? That info is given in the first post for the political threads. Laurel has not said where the others would go.
etc., etc.

Crimson - can you reset the poll with the two issues separated? I think we could at least find agreement on banning hate speech, but combining a ban on hate speech with a ban on political speech is a guaranteed non-starter. (Or perhaps that was Laurel's intent?)

I wish I could but Laurel said they had to be voted on in ONE poll together.

gotta agree. i don't give a fuck about anyone's flubberly joy, but it is definitely set up to fail. That is a shame, but not unexpected.
So it is certainly guaranteed to fail, to the unabashed, sneering or giggling delight of a few folk around here.

She knew what she was doing right from the start. She knew the issues and set up the poll this way. She doesn't want to have to deal with the issue and the subsequent Mod postings, or the on going cry baby shit that would surely follow. This is our problem and she wants us to all grow up and deal with it responsibly and respectfully. So the question is and will remain, how do we get this resolved on our own and deal with it, so it's resolved?
There is no way to resolve it as long as incivility runs rampant.
but the incivility is FOR OUR OWN GOOD.There is no way to resolve it as long as incivility runs rampant.
