...or small cupcakes with lots of frosting...

Write and draw YOUR bake Sale memories.
But do NOT get into the left or rightness of fatty goodness, please. (at least not here.

"... the motivation behind the recently announced ban on most bake sales in New York City schools: when absurd things like this happen, it’s usually because the problem people are trying to solve — in this case, childhood obesity — seems too deep and complicated to take on. ..."~By ROZ CHAST, TUCKER NICHOLS, JILLIAN TAMAKI, JOSEPH HART, KAREN BARBOUR, BELLA FOSTER, JASON POLAN and SETH

Rather than bemoan the exodus ,or engage in that which is despised, perhaps a "cupcake" could lure them (or others like them) here (to AH).

 Are bake sales that frequent in New York that they make kids fat? I'd think fatty foods, sugary drinks and not enough exercise would be the culprits. Silly me.

I have no bake sale memories but I do remember winning a cake walk when I was a child.

Bake sales --
Tons of chocolate chip cookies, rice krispie squares, and brownies.
Lopsided cakes
The sales at school functions always seemed to be on really hot days (I was living in FL then) Keeping frostings from melting was impossible
Breads in flavors I never heard of
That last package sitting on the table alone. Wondering who baked whatever it was, and if they knew theirs was the last one to sell

I would think that having no safe place to play outside, to run off some of those bake sale goodies, or not having recess at all, would contribute a lot more to childhood obesity than a cupcake or two.

I learned to bake partially because of bake sales.
In learning to bake, I learned many useful skills, including math and science.
