Back when GWB was president, I found this forum extremely entertaining. Mostly because it was full of liberal pinheads, kvetching about how GWB was ruining the US, and indeed, the entire world! Disabusing them of their errors (even though they were never in the least bit convinced) was a major source of enjoyment for me.

But then, O'Bama became president! The usual suspects had nothing to bitch about! The deplorable state of the world became something that they just had to suck up and endure, since "their man" was in charge. They could no longer play the disaffected outsiders. Poor babies! And poor me... no fun to poke at them!

But now, hallelujah! The fun times are back again! O'Bama has proven himself to NOT be the liberal Messiah that they had yearned for, dreamed for, voted for... no indeedy; he has turned out to be a centrist and pragmatist (much like Bill Clinton) and is leaving his ideologue liberal sycophants in the dust, where (of course) they belong. And they can't stand it! The bitching about O'Bama from the leftists is music to my Conservative ears! Life is F*U*N again!

Thank you, Jesus! The world is right again.

Carry on, Liberal Pinheads! You have regained your proper place in the world as my unending source of entertainment.......Carney

That's funny. I was just thinking the same thing about the Teabaggers, especially the ones who want the government to keep Medicare in the private sector.

There's a new bumpersticker going around, Carny: OMG GOP WTF? In case you don't get it, it alludes to the utter fantasy coming from the right wing these days. Death Panels? You guys are making it entirely too easy on Jon Stewart.

Thanks, DZ. I owe you one! The Big Laffs from your posts are a gift from Allah.

Hello carney, and welcome back to my ignore list.

As always, you think that by saying it often enough, you can make your sad little worldview a reality for everyone.

Good bye.

If there ever was an example of how a man's prejudice can skew their perception of reality, this is it. Most people here who voted for and supported Obama didn't want a liberal maverick in the white house, nor did they believe Obama was any Messiah. They first and foremost wanted a grownup for a change. Preferrably a center-left one. The gripes with him from the left are minor. Look to ther right for the rabid growls.

Although, I must say that you put yourself out on a limb here against the Obamaphobes. The (other) Usual Suspects flooding the board with their screams of "Obama is a socialist communist facist far-left Chicago-corrupted extremist power grabber!!! (oh, and something about ACORN)" will shit their pants when they see they you call him a centrist pragmatist.

Which you're quite right about, by the way. He is. Thanks for admitting it.

And thank YOU, Liar, for engaging in a logical, mature debate. (And I am NOT being sarcastic for a change, mind you.) That is rare to find in this most skewed of forums.

You're welcome to join me in logical, mature debate any day. You'll have to do better then your thread starter here though.

Carni, you've been sleeping. I never liked or trusted Obama from the first time he appeared on the national scene.

I really would like to see you and amicus get into where Obama is on the political spectrum. According to amicus, who gets most of his talking points from FOX "News", Obama is a far left socialist. You're saying he's a centrist pragmatist.

As a moderate leftist, I'm enjoying Obama so far. I also see what his strategy is on social issues; biding his time and letting cultural shifts do some of the work for him, and presumably going to make big changes in his second term regarding DOMA, don't ask don't tell, gay marriage and other civil rights that are free and don't cost Blue Dogs anything.

I'll admit to being a little starry-eyed about what Obama could be and the changes he could make. The more moderate elements of congress are holding him back a bit, but yeah, compared to GW he IS the messiah.

Really, political threads on the AH these days are dominated by amicus and JBJ complaining about how awful Obama is, with a lot of ambivalent shrugging from "the usual suspects". When GW was in office there were a lot more people criticizing him and posting in political threads in general. People who are moderately pleased with how things are going tend not to post as much as people who are angry.

Aside from the fact that GWB did ruin the US, and the entire world, I thought I'd explore your "pinhead" reference.

quote reference at the "It Isn't Just Liberals" thread:
As AlterNet reported, "For each of the three misperceptions, the study found enormous differences between the viewers of Fox, who held the most misperceptions, and NPR/PBS, who held the fewest by far. Eighty percent of Fox viewers were found to hold at least one misperception, compared to 23 percent of NPR/PBS consumers. All the other media fell in between."[11]

According to empirical data, Conservatives are more likely to be clueless about the factual status of current events than liberals, which would seem to make the "pinhead" reference more appropriate for conservatives.

Now that we've cleared that up, perhaps, Carny, you would be more comfortable spewing your ignorant garbage over at the General Board?

How the fuck has Charlie Rangel avoided a shitstorm?

Damn good question.

Even NPR finally noticed.

Rep. Rangel's Ethics Allegations
October 7, 2009
Rep. Charles B. Rangel has been dogged by ethics probes and tax controversies for more than a year. The House is investigating Rangel's alleged ethical violations. Among the items it is looking at:

•Rental Apartments: Rangel rented four apartments in Harlem at below-market rates while claiming his D.C. home as his primary residence for tax purposes.

•Resort Villa: Rangel failed to disclose rental income from his resort villa in the Dominican Republican on his federal or state tax returns. The House is also probing whether Rangel received a sweetheart deal to finance his ownership interest in the resort.

•Fundraising: Rangel used congressional stationery to seek donors for a public policy center in his name at City College of New York.

•Car Storage: Rangel violated House rules by storing his Mercedes in a House parking lot.

•Tax Loophole: Rangel helped preserve a loophole that benefited an oil drilling company — just as its CEO donated $1 million to an educational center in Rangel's name at CCNY.

Violating Gift Rules: Rangel and four other Democrats took trips to the Caribbean that were funded by the Carib News Foundation.

Rangel also filed amended disclosure forms last summer in which he admitted that he previously had failed to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in income and assets, including tens of thousands of dollars in rental income from a Harlem brownstone he sold in 2004.

I do agree that, when comparing this administration with that of George the Lesser, we have little to bitch about.

What's your next bitch? :D

(Oh, and I'm not every starry eyed about Obama. Never was. Always did say he wasn't quite ready to chew what he said he could bite off. But it's all relative, if all he's being compared to is George Bush the Lesser.)

I hate to break it to ya, dude, but GWB was no Conservative.....Unless, of course, you think that deficits don't matter, money can be printed endlessly and tax breaks for the uber-rich will eventually factor into economic regeneration......Not to mention that predicating and waging a bogus war would spur some kind of economic growth.....how about giving a five trillion dollar surplus to the monied interests of the world?
Never mind......you don't get it and won't benefit from any education.....

Where did I say that GWB was a conservative? Your reading comprehension is as week as your politics.

A different perspective for the left/liberals, progressive liberals, socialists and Democrats that lurk around the fringes:

Approximately half of all eligible American adults are registered to vote, they have no 'party' affiliations.

Average out the General Elections and even with the 'landslides' pretty much equalling themselves out, about half vote Republican and about half, Democrat.

Half of a half is a quarter, which is one fourth the eligible population which registers Democrat and as the party has gone Left in recent years, it has developed interesting schisms within the body politic.

The far left, represented by most on this forum, the ones screaming for socialized medicine, free abortions, equal rights for gays, you know, the whole mantra of the far left...is a small minority of the American public at large.

Thus, in mild conclusion, I offer that there ought be an American Party, one that has a platform of basic American values, the conventional and traditional morals and ethics of a vast majority.

I think it is nigh time that American Majority retook control of the Nation's political heartbeat. Enough already of the 'special interest groups', the Unions, teachers and government workers most of all; the Gay Community, the Feminists and Environmentalists; and the 'minorities' Black, Hispanic, what have you, all of whom, 70 to 90% of every election, for for Democrats.

Without the women's vote, there would never be another Democrat elected; without the Black vote, Democrats would fall into third party obscurity.

Now...do you want this the hard way or will you continue to sqawk at being put back into your little niche?

;)

The always adorable...

Is it as "week" as your spelling? (Sorry, couldn't resist). :D

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw that as soon as I posted it. But for some reason, I couldn't edit it from my cell phone. Go figure. I guess that invalidates the entire thesis!

I am open to correction but I think you will find that marginally, a slightly higher percentage of men vote Democrat than women. Women in blue collar households are particularly likely to be more conservative than their spouses. The phenomenon of women's greater conservatism is pretty much the same in all Western Democracies.

Would your American Party be advocating change re your final paragraph?

We have one point of agreement - your usage of semi colons !:)

Are open minds acceptable at the General Board, too? Maybe I should consider relocating.

Is "Liberal Pinhead" a phrase that would be accepted by the open-minded? I don't know how you can expect to start a reasoned discussion while using "liberal pinhead" in the opening post. Obviously, your intention was not to engage in reasoned discussion, but rather to provoke, which is why I suggested the General Board might be more suited to your original intent.

Really Carny, flinging shit does not enhance your posting persona, at least not around here. It only makes you appear shallow and mindless - sort of pinhead-esque, if we're going to be using your terms.

Yeah. Some geriatric cracker is going to give it to us all "the hard way." This should be especially pathetic.
