But this is a matter of ethics, morals and lifestyle...

What would you do if you discovered that the embryonic implant created by you and your husband, was implanted in someone else and is about to be born?

"Terminating the pregnancy was not an option." Said the husband of his misimplanted wife.

I have to agree with the decisions by both parties. If I found out someone else was having my baby, even by some mistake, I would want the child. It must be difficult, I hope they're able to have their own baby soon.

I accept and offer this incident as an example of the uncharted waters modern medicine has sailed us into.

There are already controversies about Cloning humans and Stem Cell research using embryonic stem cells. Medicine in the past half century has gained the ability to extend life, both for the aged, and for the premature infant. In utero procedures are available now as never before.

We are in a new era, requiring a solid foundation of ethics and morals that apply to new and unforeseen events brought about by the increased efficacy of modern medicine, procedures and prescriptive solutions.

An interesting time to be alive, eh?

Definately interesting .

I have a real problem with making babies just to save other children. JMO but no matter what logic is used it just doesn't sit right with me. The life of one has no more value then its ability to save the other? It just seems wrong in such a basic way. I love that movie...can't remember the name, where a whole bunch of people are cloned and aged just to use for parts. Definately gives a whole new twist to the morality of scientific advancement being misused.

Isn't cloning humans still iligal? I'm sure I read that somewhere

Ya that's the one. Gods I cried when that woman's baby was taken and they pulled the sheet over her head.

I think this would be tough for anyone to answer without being in that exact situation. A persons emotions would be involved, as well as all the moral and ethical issues that went with it. I could say I would give the baby to the biological parents, but if I actually carried it, gave birth to it, would I be able to go through with giving it up? No way can I know what I would do.

I watched an interview with both women, separate interviews, one was as you said, the other spoke about not bearing the child, feeling it kick, 'bonding' before birth, that kind of thing. A very difficult situation for both.

It must be hell. But seriously, you have to give the woman credit for carrying the child to term and handing it over. Law be damned, not many could do it.
