March On Washington

Who says that they were racists? I think they were average citizens who are incensed about something and are madder than hell about something and aren't gonna take something anymore.....

Where have you been? Evenyone who disagrees with Obama is racist.

He's been busy agreeing with JBJ (amicus) to irritate him (them). ;)

Moi?....
JBJ just brings out the best in me.......Amicus is a genius (just ask him) the self described 'Glenn Beck' of the sixties........Quite the honor he's assumed.....Quite the mantle of intellectual achievement he's claiming - Glenn Beck......

That may be true for some, but I'd say the majority are just ill-informed, or brainwashed by FOX News and talk radio, or they're fiscal conservatives with pie-in-the-sky plans for maintaining a robust society while simultaneously ignoring the reality of the minimum-wage class and the unemployed. (BTW, unemployment is not voluntary. Even in the best of times, unemployment never dips below around 4%. It's just the way the American economy works.)

I think you were away during the "altruism gene" thread a while back. Apparently, science thinks altruism is a genetic trait, which would help to explain the difference in perception between liberals and conservatives. For example, a liberal might see someone losing their health insurance and think "what can I do to help?" A conservative might see the same thing and think "that lazy SOB deserves his fate." Actually, I have no clue what conservatives think, but that's how it appears to me, and the only way I can explain it is the altruism gene, or lack thereof.

DEE ZIRE

A conservative thinks: GEE ITS MONDAY, I GOTTA GET OUTTA BED AND GO TO WORK.

The Usual Suspect thinks: I hope my check comes today.

and baptist, and homophobic and anti-abortion and anti-evolution . . .

I got confused somewhere - but he's no LBJ - and I supported him. Like most men, the reality is a grave disappointment.

To be honest I thought about supporting him way back when he first popped out of nowhere. Then he called Geraldine Furreo racist by way of his puppets, Jessie Jackson and (OMFG) Al Sharpton. That did it for me.

I was glad to see Jackson and Sharpton abandoned him before the primaries.

Remember this...

The White House said Friday it was unaware of the rally.

A million or more rock Washington
Taxpayer march could be biggest rally ever in capital

WASHINGTON – The capital was rocked today by a taxpayer march and rally that could be the biggest protest ever – potentially dwarfing the Million Man March and the Promise Keepers Rally.

CNN knew about the rally, its reporterette was shouted down, TELL THE TRUTH! A news show tonight sez the Obama opponents have all the energy, and this can cause Obama problems very soon, when a real plan is formulated.

"A million or more" is total bull.

But yesterday, someone told a real whopper. ABC News, citing the DC fire department, reported that between 60,000 and 70,000 people had attended the tea party rally at the Capitol. By the time this figure reached Michelle Malkin, however, it had been blown up to 2,000,000. There is a big difference, obviously, between 70,000 and 2,000,000. That's not a twofold or threefold exaggeration -- it's roughly a thirtyfold exaggeration.

The way this false estimate came into being is relatively simple: Matt Kibbe, the president of FreedomWorks, lied, claiming that ABC News had reported numbers of between 1.0 and 1.5 million when they never did anything of the sort. A few tweets later, the numbers had been exaggerated still further to 2 million. Kibbe wasn't "in error", as Malkin gently puts it. He lied. He did the equivalent of telling people that his penis is 53 inches long.

Malkin, who to her credit later corrected the error, frets that it might be used to by liberals to "discredit the undeniably massive turnout". She's right to be worried -- it absolutely will be used that way. If you don't want to be discredited, then don't, as Kibbe did, tell a ridiculous (and easily disprovable) lie.

(my bold, I just liked the analogy ;) )

Thanks for the link, DG...I had to smile at a portion of this:

"...Several organizations united to help organize the National Taxpayer Protest's descent on the Capitol, including: Freedom Works, Grassfire/ResistNet, Tea Party Patriots, National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, Americans for Tax Reform, Young Americans for Liberty, Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights, Our Country Deserves Better, Campaign for Liberty, Leadership Institute, Free Republic, Young America's Foundation, the National Association of Rural Land Owners and Smart Girl Politics.

Now I gotta go see who 'Smart Girl Politics' might be. (heh):)

Congratulations!!!
Congratulations to everyone who participated today in the March on Washington. Whether you were on the ground in DC, at home watching CSPAN, or using social media to help get the word and photos out, pat yourselves on the back.

While Robert Gibbs stated that the President was unaware of today's events and most of the main-stream media avoided the event, anyone who watched or participated knows that over a million people came out to stand for our freedoms, constitution, and our country!

Now I gotta check out, 'ning.com' had heard it before and forgot...

Liar, I juat copied and posted what I read. Everyone is always asking for proof instead of allegations. I agree with that so when I'm sent a link, I pass it along. Paper said millions, I don't know but there sure were a lot of people in the pictures in the article.

There were more than a few people there. I would have thought is was rather noticable.

If the crowds had been pro Health Care/Obama there would have been millions as per CNN, NYT, WashPo, MSNBC, ad nauseum.

Who remembers the Million Man March organized by Louis Farrakhan that fell way short of a million? The press called it that anyway, I guess because it had a nice ring to it.

I ROFLed pretty hard at some of the signs. Conservatives: These are the people your coalition has taken in. Wallow in it.

Yes, indeed, JamesSD, left wing spontaneous rallies are much better organized and their signs are all the same, made by Union Labor.;)

Such a deal!

The press always seems to know when and where these 'spontaneous' rallies are gonna occur too. What a coincidence, huh?

As usual, Ami is pulling 'facts' out of his ass. I've been to left wing rallies, and I've always come with my own homemade sign, and most of the signs I've seen were also homemade. BTW, I've never been a member of a union, so Ami, my friend, you can take your unsubstantiated claims and shove them back up your ass where they came from.

Which claims are those? His ass would split like a jailhouse punk if he tried to put just the nonsense he's spouted today back there.......

BTW - What was the march on washington about?
Deficit Spending? Where were they during the Bush EXCESSES?
Trampling on the Constitution? Where were they during the Bush EXCESSES?
It was about a pack of racist baiters reveling in their fifteen minutes on the FAUX NEWS NW.......These are the conservative 'base' voters? Right........The collective IQ of all 30,000 didn't equal 50.........
Sad display for anyone to claim.......
