The rules don't allow it.
Actual photographs are required to abide by the obscenity laws, requiring signed and verified documentation of every subject in said photographs. That's way more money and record-keeping time than Lit has to throw around for such an underutilized category.
All that can be in actual photographs is nudity. Even parted pink or raging hard-ons are pushing the boundaries. It has to qualify as "art" and not something naughty. The subjects can't be touching anything that you would probably want to see them touch, let alone have naughty bits clicking together.
In the case of illustrations/drawings/paintings/computer generated images, there's no direct image of a person to keep records on, so they're exempt ( thusfar ) That's why there are a few hardcore pics in the illustrated section that fall under this type of image.

Take a look at Playboy, Penthouse or any of the other magazines. They place their stories between photo ops, but do not include the photos in the stories. Same thing here.
