Mel Martinez is expected to announce his resignation today. It's certainly a trend with Republicans lately.

I'm not sure it's a bad thing, given how we all want term limits and to end the "career politician" syndrome. The GOP is leading the way, where are the Democrats?

I've never heard "rats leaving a sinking ship" referred to as "leading" before.

Nice spin. :D

Johnny 5 loves Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is a trend-setter. So many people want to be like Sarah Palin.

I do not want term limits. They prevent people from voting for politicians they have grown to know and trust.

What I do want is for Republicans to get out of the way and let the Democrats rule the country.

The governor of Florida gets to appoint Martinez' replacement. Since the current governor is Charlie Crist, a Republican, this should not make any difference in the partisan makeup of the Senate.

But, as it appears this announcement came as a complete surprise to all other Florida Republicans, the selection process should be interesting to watch.

people trust politicians?

Crist is a pretty liberal Republican. Nothing would surprise me...

My voter card says NPA, so I don't really care.

The emphasis, of course, being on the word "rule."

Enough, apparently, to vote for the same one over and over in successive election cycles.

with only 2 viable parties i dont think they are voting for someone as much as they are voting against the other person
