The Rudepundant penned a couple of paragraphs I liked.

If Attorney General Eric Holder does go forward with a probe of Bush-era torture policies and if Dianne Feinstein and other Democrats are serious about looking into the CIA/Cheney story, then we will be making baby steps back to being a nation that actually gives a flying rat's fuck about the laws we pass.

And if we don't look back, if we simply attempt to bury the past in our inexorable march forward with the knowledge that unpunished crimes have been committed, then we, all of us, become co-conspirators. We all carry that burden then, that we know we are a country that has done wrong, but we are unwilling to prove it and punish those who ordered the commission of crimes in our name.

I guess we need to give Diane the Balls to face down the old white man. I seriously doubt that she or the Donkeys can muster the fortitude to take such a momentous step

This investigation will never happen because it would take much wanted attention from BHO's game plan for remaking America.

In addition, numerous members of Congress were aware of what was going on and approved of it. (San Fran Nan nowithstanding). Airing dirty laundry is not what they want either.

No one gives a shit about the individuals who were tortured and a lot of people don't consider what was done to them torture anyway. It will look like it's a witch hunt by the Bush haters and that'll get folks all riled up.

Mmmm...could be...and how about the plan to bail out the nearly bankrupt Dead Tree Media like the NY 'Times', the Washington 'Post'. Chicago 'Sun-Times', the LA 'Times', Philly 'Enquirier'? All big BHO supporters coincidentally.

No, they're too busy trying to hold down jobs while feeding, clothing and educating children on modest incomes. They are good, brave people. They just don't have the luxury of study time to keep themselves well informed. They have to rely on a media that claims to be informing when it really is just entertaining and is owned by the same interests who control the government.

Anyone who doesn't see a conspiracy among politicians isn't looking hard enough. To me, there are a myriad of conspiracies, all of which have in the process shredded the Constitution and left this Republic a shambles, a ghost of its former self. Some of these conspiracies overlap from common interest (not THE common interest, as in the public welfare, but mutual selfishness).

Groups involved in this include:

1. Fundamentalist/Fascist types....Pat Robertson, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly. Need I say more?
2. Radical feminists and other far Left wackos (Andrea Dworkin, Oliver Stone...ironic in his case, isn't it, Bill Ayers, Valerie Solanis, etc.)
3. Mainstream politicians, pundits, lobbyists, and others who have no more use for the Constitution and particularly states' rights than do the previous two groups (no, I'm not fooled by Dubya's pretense to be a Constitutionalist...his Administration proved otherwise).
4. Big Business
5. Big Labor
6. The Establishment Media
7. Citizens who sell their votes for bread and circuses. I forgot who said that a democracy could only survive until the People discover that they can vote themselves largesse out of the public treasury, but whoever he was, he was dead right.
8. Globalists, Aztlan activists, Islamic theocrats, and other small anti-American factions dedicated to the overthrow of our Union.
9. Lawyers. Need I say more?
10. Organized crime syndicates.
11. Central bankers, of course. They are the main cabal, if you ask me. The real puppet masters controlling the strings for all of the other players.

Guess ol' Daniel Webster would really jump out of his grave these days, if he could. 'Cause the Union is barely standing at all.

The problem is that this encompasses at least half the population. This country really is bought and paid for. The key is to get the public to stop selling their votes to the highest bidder and get mad as hell and refuse to take it anymore.

Then we could possibly see a 100% turnover in elections, or at least 90%. But enough daydreaming. The cynic in me sees little hope of that.

Still, if enough people rejected the two major parties in favor of a new one, that would be a start. But I despair of that just as I despair of a new majority religion displacing Christianity anytime soon. Preferably a religion based on Greco-Roman humanistic philosophy, which was the real basis of Western culture in the first place. But I digress....

Call me paranoid, but I see many conspiracies, and none of them having to do with the Illuminati.

Short of a revolution, preferably bloodless, but at the risk of civil war, I don't see the kind of drastic reforms happening which are required to save this country from itself and its enemies.

Here is a piece and I wonder if it is "Fair and Balanced"?
One the one hand, the Banks in the TARP program are doing what is most prudent for them, paying off debt, fulfilling their contractual obligations (paying bonuses etc.) and generally doing business. But we put 600 Billions into the TARP to free up money for lending?
I don't see that we can complain about how they use the money if they are repaying the tax payers, with interest and in a timely manner.
That Goldman Sachs is the beneficiary of our largess, yet appears to have avoided being controlled by the Government is interesting.
I wonder who let them collect 100% on their CDS but had the Auto Workers pension fund loose 50% or more of their investments?

I started another thread which asked, "Who will emerge to replace the Republican party now that they appear to have fallen into the hands of the radical right?" the few posters on that thread mostly thought that there will be no third party emerge. It would not be in the interests of the "Illuminati" (who ever they are?), to have a true Constitutionalists Center party address the issues that face our Republic in the opening years of the 21st Century.

As as been said before the American people don't ask the penetrating questions, like, "Show me the Money". W and the gang boasted about invading Irag for only 200 Billion, just a third of the Pentagon Budget. Such a deal, of course they were wrong.

I think the average American is concerned with thier own lives and not what their Government is really doing as Edward the Enraged put it. When our Representatives avoid their duty in order to get re-elected, we get this kind of Government.
