Club pics from El Paso

The dark skinned guy on the left is HOT.

DJs are awesome.

He kinda looks like Dean Caine.

One for you guys so far, it's a photo of my pal who got stuck in El Paso with me when my truck decided to break down. We ended up getting picked up by a local dj and then partied like rockstars all damn weekend. Met some new and exciting people. The guy on the right is my bud and the other one is the dj from L.A. Riots.

Fark... wrong photo.. Those were a couple of lovely young ladies who wanted a photo taken and I'd just sent the link to em and it was still in my clipboard...

This is the right photo..

When I started reading the thread, I was *wondering* why you were calling the subjects of the first pic "guys..."

I think you're having a cixelsyd day there, Bett. Spin around three (3) times on your left heel, two (2) times on your right, and say "Arbadacarba!" That should fix it.

I had to close down all of my applications, the damn computer would only input what I was typing in reverse.

And it won't let me hotlink to my pic on my myspace. :(

I love the effect that I get using no flash in the club, just the lighting that they use. I don't use any of the automatic settings, adjust the cams settings on the fly so every shot has to be timed with the people dancing and the music so that I release the shutter at just the right moment. Mostly I'm a bit off but every once in a while I hit a photo just right. I like the way it looks, like the subject is an ethereal spirit, part in this world and part somewhere else. It leaves the viewing of the image up to the imagination of the person looking at it, each person will see something different, fill in the blanks with something inside themselves. It makes the image personal. Using flash, setting up perfect lighting, completing the image in perfect clarity shows only what is there at the moment of the shot. It removes the person looking at it, makes it cold and impersonal.

I want to put just a teasing hint inside their mind, something that forces open their imagination. Someday I'll get that perfect shot that makes anyone seeing it stop and feel the darkness within themselves come to life.

To be honest, Benassi just played tracks, no interaction with the crowd and he was on his fucking cell phone texting the whole show. He barely touched the decks, did his bit and got the fuck out as fast as he could.

The dj from L.A. Riots the next week had people come up on stage to dance, stayed after the show to chat with people and take photos and then he came out to the parking lot to thank people for coming out, shook lots of hands and was one of the most delightful musicians I've ever run across.

Oddly enough, this was precisely what I was digging on. I really like the no-flash shots and was thinking how difficult it must be to time them right.

Good work, Betts.

Ya know, man, dyslexic computer or no, you could post some of these pics to Keroin's Craft thread... because taking pics of this quality *IS* craftsmanship, and perhaps even art. I dunno - I don't have an artistic bone in my body; I just have to tell you that you take some damn fine pictures.

Awwww, thanks SW... I'm currently uploading 245 more images to my photobucket account. For obvious reasons I won't hotlink but sometime tomorrow if it worked I'll put up a link to the album. :)

They are all completely untouched, straight as they came out of the camera.

Are you in El Paso?

It's the new club 101 off of Airway Blvd.

I'm in El paso every few weeks when I make the drive from New Orleans to Los Angeles. One of my bestfriends lives there so It's my stop. I lived in NM for a few years.
