Sorry if this is more of a rant.

I'm not sure how many of you are gov junkies but today McCain's former running mate Sarah Palin resigned from her position as Governor and in doing so virtually eliminated her chance at the republican nomination.

I tell you, this woman gets under my skin! I mean its one thing to lack intelligence but it's another to pretend like that makes you patriotic. For the longest time Palin has been a opposition to gay rights in Alaska and despite her claims of trying to bring the states waste of money to nonexistent she supported a $1.2 million non-binding advisory vote for legislation that would have taken away the partner benefits granted by an Alaska Supreme Court ruling.

I have a personal hatred for Palin because in the McCain and Palin campaign she stated that she has many gay friends and is quite sympathetic to the plight of the gay American. I cringed when I saw her trying to reach out to the LGBT like that after her record.

The one thing though is I admit the woman is extremely funny. She managed to say with a straight face that by not accepting federal funding she was helping the Alaskan people and that she should be congratulated for not having a personal cook or ever leaving her state to visit foreign counties not to mention that she's quite courageous for leaving office mid term because she doesn't like the democratic party. She said and I quote,

"Life is too short to compromise time and resources... it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: "Sit down and shut up", but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and “go with the flow”.

Palin, I wish you lovely life and hope that you find your calling far far away from politics.

No, I think you vastly misjudge me. Supporting Sarah Palin makes you a Sarah Palin supporter and possibly a conservative. Supporting Sarah Palin because she moved to ban same sex benefits makes you a possibly not a supporter of gay rights. Supporting Sarah Palin because she is against gay rights and not interested in any form of equality would make you someone who hates homosexuals. I'm not saying you hold any of those positions and likely couldn't care less but if a person gives me a reasonable attempt at a argument I'll meet them at face value. I don't post on GB for a reason, I'm not interested in pissing matches or seeing who can be the nastiest to each other. The closest I get to that is the occasional rant. Most of my above reactions were more annoyance than any real desire to argue.

So, if you want to talk about Palin, feel free to post your comments or ideas or even information on her leaving office, I'm sure their will be a lot of all three in the news to discuss and I suspect their IS a scandal that will be appearing soon involving her though I might be wrong. I'm curious to find out more about what would make her leave mid campaign but I suspect (with no proof) she's trying to quickly disassociate herself with the governorship so she can maintain ignorance to whatever happens. cases of people simply up and leaving like that are far and few between. For anyone following, the shit could potentially be hitting the fan for Palin because of allegations about the construction company she used to build her home on Lake Wasilla and to build the Wasilla Sports Complex. Things are getting hot for her and she is a notorious quitter. She quit 6 colleges, an energy consultant job and now she is quitting being gov of Alaska in the middle of her term. She's not even a lame duck, as she is only serving a first term, so that theory doesn't fly.

Another issue is she is racking up some serious legal fees, she's up to half a mil so far and while her and Todd have some money, they don't have a vast amount of wealth. It's predicted she could owe millions in legal fees by the time her gov term ends.

Lots of speculation but so far it looks like her retirement is mercenary based. Out of the political ring her earning potential is enormous. Rupert Murdoch is already paying her over a mil for her memoirs, so just imagine her earning potential in radio/TV and other sources of medial.

And very true, she aint no friend to the LGBT community, especially belonging to that wackadoodle church that thinks you can "pray the gay away" and has nutbag guest reverends from Africa who believes in witches.

She's no friend to women either because if she had it her way, choices about our own bodies would be taken away.

Having only recently obtained Citizenship and having resided in your country for just a few years I was astonished by your so called "democracy." It appears that there are two kinds of people in the US. There are those who think for themselves, and then those who recite ad nausea the "Party Line," the Republicans.
I was further astonished to see an innocent naive backwater political figure, Sarah Palin, taken advantage of by the "party" and thrust onto the forefront, the political stage, where she was led to believe that she could become a member of the group of people who perceive themselves as the most important in the world. For her to even consider that she might be able to obtain that position begs belief.
I shall always wonder what exactly she was promised, or paid, or guaranteed to ensure her cooperation. Or was she that innocent that she dropped her knitting and ran straight to Mr. McCain as soon as he called.
It is a disgrace that her "Party" were prepared to seduce and use her. It is a disgrace that they would even consider manipulating not only her, but also the entire population of the country.
Further, I fail to see how homosexuality can or should be a political agenda. I fail to see how it damages religion in any way to grant Homosexuals a license to get married. Are we not all expected to obtain a Legal license to marry? How does the legal requirement affect the religious circumstance?

It used to be Blacks, at one stage it was even considered creating a third class of citizen, that class was to be formed to deal with the "Irish." Who are we going to hate next?
