I am looking for info on D/s contracts. Yes, I have already visited the library but the contract was very vague. Just wish to read other contracts to get a feel for them.

Any links would be most appreciated, also.

How about:

"I agree to do whatever the D tells me to do, when he tells me to do it, until such time as I decide that I don't want to do what the D tells me to do, at which point I know where to find the front door."

I don't like contracts. My relationships are not business arrangements.

Yep, that pretty well sums it up.

I almost wrote something similar last night, but decided against it.

;)

Does anybody else get really twitchy when somebody says they've come here with an assignment?

Why? What's wrong with a PYL telling their pyl to gain information on contracts (or anything else) and that pyl coming here for information?

I don't have a problem with that at all - it's being told that it's an assignment. I am not here for somebody's homework help. If somebody came and said "hey, I am trying to understand contracts, can somebody give me some examples, I can't really figure this out, here is what I am struggling with" etc then I wouldn't have a problem with it. It would be for their own personal edification. But having it be for an assignment makes me feel like (a) the sub is too lazy to use Google (b) we are the smart kids expected to help the kids who can't be bothered to read and figure out on their own (c) we aren't worth talking to as people, we're just smart kids, and once the homework is done we'll be forgotten...and so forth. Come here, talk to us, get to know us, don't just love us and leave us. Not everybody does it, but I just hate feeling like I'm being used as a tool in a relationship without my consent.

I don't have a problem at all being used as an information source for an assignment. Maybe it's because in my profession I am used all the time for school assignments. I don't see it as a sign of laziness. These forums are more useful than Google. More personal, and well, more real-life.

Just because a person comes here for information for an assignment doesn't mean they will love us and leave us, nor does it mean they don't value us as people. Maybe they are on a time crunch, maybe if we help them out then they will stick around and join in more.

Of course if you don't want to help, you don't have to. No one is forcing you.
